yeah a lot of bad stuff is going on in that video. i've done 4 rebuilds with inordinate amounts of vaseline and hylomar and i've never had that much smoke.

To the original poster..... just pull out the motor and sell the chassis/wheels to me

Oil pressure gauge to the dash was not hooked up, but I did have another one hooked up to the re pedalstal. pleanty of oil pressure.

Coolant was filled and check and re checked. Its fine. The gauge for some reason would go up and down on revs. Weird. This is my first time putting a rotary together. I'm 100% sure that the coolant and oil pressure gauge wires are not hook up on the right spot. I bought the car with a blown up engine and hacked up wire harness. I have pleanty to do.

The car will never be up for sale.....lol

I'll keep you all posted on what happens today

That cloud of smoke reminds me of the time I had to put ATF in a flooded 2nd gen to get enough compression to start it.

Good luck and props for doing it yourself. I don't know that much but it sounds like it's running on 1 rotor. Hope you get it figured out soon, sharp looking FD.

engine sounds like its running on all faces in the first videos for sure...it sounds like something is simply vibrating against the chasis like a heatshield or something metal

when I turn my air on I get a similair vibration...it goes away as soon as I disengage the a/c

Check all of your pulleys...maybe a bad bearing?

TURN THE MOTOR OVER without it running and see if you hear the noise...pull the egi circuit relay stuff and just crank it...do you hear pop, pop, pop, pop evenly from the exhaust....?

Thanks for all the input figured it out............

The problem:

1. Loud metal on metal noise coming from rear rotor / clutch area.

2. Crazy amounts of white smoke

3. Fuel coming out of the exhaust

The culprit:

1. The throwout bearing retainer un-did it self causeing the clutch fork to push against the pressure plate and make contact thus giving me the metal on metal noise. Also the slave cylinder rod also fell inside the trans bell housing....WOW!!!

2. Still working on this, but I'm pretty sure it has to do with way to much fuel in my exhaust. When the car eventually starts fuel was pooring out of the down pipe causeing the white smoke.

3. I dont have a fuel pressure gauge on my car to figure out how much fuel I have. When I take the fuse out the engine runs pretty nice until it unfloods it self. I tried starting the engine with the fuse in and there is way to much fuel and the engine floods right away.

Question:

1. I have an XS FPR and I was wondering which way do i turn the alen screw to lower the psi on it.

2. Why would fuel pour out of the DP/exhaust?

Glad you found the source of the loud noise

Hm, are you sure it's not oil coming out the exhaust? Have you checked your oil level?

I am possitive it is fuel. it's clear and smells like gas

This is my first rotary engine and I'm learning a lot as I go.

Can you answer this for me. Right now the FPR is hooked up to the outlet of the secondary rail back to the tank. IS this correct?

Yes! The fuel enters the primary rail 1st then exits the secondary rail at the FPR. Make sure your vacuum line is hooked up.

What do you have your base fuel px set at? With the vacuum line off, it should be at ~40 psi.

you unscrew the adjustment screw (counterclockwise) to lower the pressure. tighten (clockwise) to raise it.

Well today I will see why I am getting so much smoke coming out of the exhaust. The car is also hard to start because it floods right away. I'll figure this out today.

Are you running a power fc? Check all of your sensor voltages to make sure they're within spec (under the etc menu). If they're highlighted then they're out of spec.....if you deleted the stock secondary fuel rail (1680cc injs) your fuel temp sensor will be highlighted, but that's not your problem. But this'll allow you to check the TPS, OMP, water temp sensor, etc.

Yes I have a PFC, but no controller. I am going to go thru the wire harness again to see if I missed something. I do have a few plug right now that dont go to anything. All solenoids have been taken out along with the wires out of the harness.

My water temp sensor goes up and down on RPMS.....WTF!!!!!!

Water level sensor is not hooked up. Cant find it....ordering one today!!!!

Yesterday I found that my coilpacks where wired wrong...lol newb move on my part.

I fixed them to this.

T1: White.
L1/L2: Black.
T2: Blue.
