man, thats just too bad kevin!!!! i dont know if id be able to deal with it if that kept on happening to me!!!! i get freaked out when the smallest thing goes wrong and threated to sell the car!!!! hahahaha
I've been talking with djseven a lot lately, and since he buys and sells a lot of these cars, I told him that if he'd been over here when that happened he would probably have driven out of here with a silver FD for about $100, that's how pissed I got.

Upon further inspection, the windshield isn't so bad after all, it just looked like it from the angle I was at. There is one big, long crack straight up in front of the passengers seat. But, any crack in a windshield is one too many.

I won't lie, I started laughing with the gust of wind. It seems like my luck ... If it had been me, I would've walked out of the garage and just sat down defeated. Left the car in timeout for throwing a temper tantrum. Sorry to hear about all that, I don't imagine replacing windshields is so cheap.

I wonder why they made the glass in rx-7's so forking THIN. No lie, glass in something like a GM is easily TWICE as thick. Even the 2nd gen windshields are super thin, and easy to break. All you have to do is look at these windshields the wrong way and they crack. The smallest rock spells bad news. I guess they went all out on weight reduction with these cars, but I could easily live with 25lb more of glass weight for better protection.

yeah that kind of scares me now kevin, im imagining a rock coming at me, then it hitting my windshield, shattering it, glass flying into my face and getting absoluetly mauled by glass shards, going blind, losing control of the car, flying off the side of the canyon

Sorry to see a good cf hood get cracked and 2 sheilds smashed.
What ya gotta do is reverse the hood, hinge it from the frunt like the sa's and fb's then it can't fly up at high speeds.

That's one hell of a story!

But, remember, the first two ain't your fault ... not directly anyway. So, just be more careful and you should be very happy now

BTW, I couldn't believe that many still have thoughts about luck that much. I always think it's just me I'll post my 'strangest day w/ my bitchin seven' later?

Has anyone ever thought about a safety chain or cable that would keep the hood from flying back far enough to do any major damage?

Paul, his stock prop wasn't attached to the car at the bottom. The plastic anchor that held it in place was missing.

I think my new setup is going to be another CF vented hood, 4 hoodpins and the stock center latch. And perhaps dual chains from the front of the frame rails to the front corners of the hood. Would people look at me funny at shows if I had chains on the hood?

I picked up another working hood latch and cable today, and my windshield should be installed Monday or Tuesday. Then I just need another hood. And no other ************* will be allowed to touch my car, they'll just have to consider me a snobbish FD owner like the rest of you guys

I think I've come up with an even better plan, Paul. I'm going to run such a large turbo that no hood will fit on the car, thus eliminating this problem altogether.

Seriously, one of the locals is going to take my busted hood for 100 bucks when I pull it back off.

oh i hate you. . . if that local falls through. . . let me know. . .

dude, youd totally fit in down here. . . you could run around with the rest of those hoodless guys and theyd crown you as their king because youd actually have a reason for not having a hood!!!!
