Question Is my engine going to blow soon?

I just was on the highway and I decided to open it up, and between high rpm shifts a lot of white smoke comes out of the exhaust. It only happens at high rpm shifts, not when I drive normally. Is this a sign of engine failure?

It's most likely just the water accumulated in your catalytic converter.

if you are that worried, just do a compression check on it...

Uh... Smoking at high RPM shifts is normally a sign of rotor oil seal failure. Or the beginning of...

How many miles do you have on the motor? Mods?

Question

Are you sure it is white smoke? It is happening only on boost?

It happens only under boost, and but it doesn't smell like coolent, it might be oil. Could it be my turbos crapping out on me and burning oil? My turbos do make a lot of noise.

Yup, that's the direction I was going in. Check your intake tract for excess amounts of oil. When my turbos finally went after ~95k miles of abuse, there was serious smoke out the tailpipe and in all the intercooler piping.

I did notice oil in my intake piping, but I don't know what is an excessive amount. I also checked my oil dipstick and it was about a 1 1/2 quart low and I had just changed the oil 200 miles ago.

I am not sure if the motor was replaced or rebuilt, but which ever one it was, it was done 5k miles ago. (I bought the car with the new motor in it)
Also when I bought the car, the guy said the turbos were rebuilt also. The turbo housing looked clean and and new, but who knows?

that's an awful lot of oil to go through that quickly. If you are not leaking it, chances are your turbos are the culprit.

Getting stockers rebuilt is an exercise in futility. They will never run 100% right. Either go single, go BNR twins, or go with the '99 spec Efini twins.

Single or stock? Hard decision. One is cheaper by thousands, but the other is incredibly faster.
