Is my cat still serviceable for use?

As part of my hunt for the unexplained mystery of no boost, I pulled the main cat.
Pictures attached.
Never pulled a cat before. Do you think its clogged?

You cant see any light through it, and if you shake it up and down, there's a small rattle, but it doesn't feel like the whole honeycomb is moving around in there.

the second pic is what it should look like, the first picture is what it shouldn't. it might still squeak by a smog test, but its days are numbered

Thanks, mate. I'll chuck it back on the car until I can pick up another cat, as test-pipes aren't good for boost creep... but even boost creep would be a welcome change!

There's a good chance that you can shake out whatever debris may be in the cat. I suggest doing this while you have it off. Whatever you can shake out will be good to remove.

Steve - remove it now and by a power fc to control your boost (and the NZ made datalogit). Your right that it wont help any spikes - but your not at that point yet cuz!

Disagree. A PFC won't do anything for boost creep, which is what he's risking by removing the cat with the stock twins. Either port the wastegate or leave some back-pressure in the system.
