My Cardomain Poll Results
On my CarDomain web page I asked the following poll question.
Question: If all the cars below were available brand new for the same price, which would you buy?
1. 3rd Generation RX7
2. Accura NSX
3. Corvette Z06
4. BMW Z4
5. Audi TT
6. Mitsubishi EVO 7
7. Skyline GTR
8. Other
After the first 71 votes here are the percentages. Suprising----I don't think so
1. 3rd Generation RX7 - (21%)
2. Accura NSX - (4%)
3. Corvette Z06 - (12%)
4. BMW Z4 - (2%)
5. Audi TT - (1%)
6. Mitsubishi EVO 7 - (1%)
7. Skyline GTR - (52%)
8. Other - (4%)
Total Votes: 71
Other than the Skyline GTR (which I think is a different class of automobile altogether...the 3rd gen is doing better than other named vehicles put together. There is an additional 4% attributed to unamed competitors.
Not too bad for a 10 year old car.

You may be right but I like to think that, like me, people on CarDomain are car freaks and look at all cars that interest them. SInce I found the site, I have checked out everything from AC Cobras to Austin Healeys to Coopers to GTOs to Ferraris to blah blah blah. BTW I had over 6000 hits before I listed the website here or any other RX7 related website.

Here are the most recent results with almost 300 votes in. Seems like the FD is still holding its own against a wide range of competitors.

Results for the GTR are most likely skewed because you can't easily purchase one in the US and therefore they are very very rarely seen. Consider the target for Cardomain is a bunch of dreamers and ricers. Most will follow the hype surrounding the GTR and their considerable lack of exposure to them, making it the obvious default choice to many. All of those other cars are available through their manufacturers in the US.
And I'm surprised to see no JZA80 ... or Viper (especially if you're going to throw a $90K car in there).

The skyline is a great car dont get me wrong but if you actually compared one in real life and the statistics of the GTR to cars such as the WRX or Evo 8 it is barely much better, and when compared to the FD, Z06, and NSX. Honestly the GTR-34 is about like a supra, heavy with an engine capable of a lot of HP. I hear stuff about the skyline all the time like how it is the fastest car in Japan handles better than anything else etc. etc. most of these people have no idea what they are talking about. On track courses a stock FD Type RZ will outperform a GTR-34 because of its much better power to weight ratio (Skylines are around 3300-3500lbs). If all of these cars were available in the united states new for the same price, I would most likely pick the NSX or RX-7 because they look and handle great, the only reason I would buy a skyline right now is because you hardly ever see them in the United States, and the looks and admiration would from the import crowd would be incredible. I was at an unofficial event with a lot of riceboys and a stock 92 R-32 comes up, its only got like 260HP and everyone is drooling over it likes its the best thing since anything... The skyline has a very impressive racing background and is an excellent car, but that extra 600lbs compared to an FD is a lot... Also consider that there is a power limit for production cars in Japan at about 276HP... so which car do you think is the fastest in Japan.
