My car won't run...What's wrong???
Alright my car is fine, but some of you boneheads need to just be quiet when someone asks for troubleshooting advice. In other words if you are not pretty sure (you can never be 100% when trouble shooting across the internet), be quiet.
I have noticed a huge increase lately in misinformation on this board because people are too quick to offer advice on problems they don't really understand. No matter what the engine or turbo trouble is, somebody chimes in with "The cat is clogged! The fuel filter is clogged! The MAP sensor hose is off! Change your plugs! Replace the air filter! Replace the oxygen sensor!" Yes, sometimes these are right on, but it seems that most think these are the only things that ever go wrong and continue to spout off ad nauseum.
I am no benevolent guru either (not completely ), but you don't do people any favors by telling them to check things that have nothing to do with the problem just so you can feel good about yourself.
End of rant. Sorry for the abuse.

sure
In most cases of car trouble those "general" things are usually good to start with in order to narrow things down. Some people wonder why their car won't start, and they have never changed the fuel filter, haven't cleaned the air filter, haven't replaced spark plugs in over 8,000 miles, still have the stock cats.
