hahahah...naw $6300 a year isn't being screwed over.

It's okay though, I sold my other car to a girl I know ;*)
Her insurance is half mine for that one.

I'm still screwed though but at least not nearly as screwed....when you get a $17k-ish total pay-out and then subsequently make a $1500 comprehensive fire claim what do you expect....not to mention some *** stole my Scoot hood the day after the totalled car got to my mechanic. It was a bit damaged but probably still worth $700-$800 and could have been fixed.

Actually economically, I'm ahead of the game with claims, payouts, and selling of duplicate parts. It helped to buy my transplant so damn cheap (with clean title).
The time however is a whole different issue. I have been lucky to have another car and that I've been out of town travelling for 75% of this past year anyways.

this might no be the reason why your car started on fire but i've seen exhaust too close to the bumper and it will burn up. a partner of mines was using a heat gun to speed up the drying processs on some fiberglass and i guess he had it too close and all of the sudden it caught on fire..just my 2 cents

I didnt read this entire thread but I had comment on this. I HIGHLY doubt the exhaust being too close to the bumper would cause a fire. I have melted my bumper a long while ago but never did it catch on fire.

David:

Was searching for something else and came across this post..............

I know how long you waited to get your car back.............I was down at Jeff's and I saw this VR with the burnt rear in one of the bays and I said to Jeff, "Don't even tell me that's Decorsi's car"........oops, it was...........can't believe the bad luck.............odds are hopefully it's over and done with...............the bad luck that is.............

Just picked up my car there after he rebuilt my engine and I didn't see yours around so I assume it's out of there....................he fired it up while I was there and it was def running about as rich as anything I've ever seen.................smoked out the entire garage, both sides, as well as most of the entire neighborhood..........

Hope you're back on the street, for good..............

C-ya.............

Thanks, it's back running. It runs well except for a boost leak so far but it's nice to have it back. I'll post some pictures, it does look even better than before now...especially with the Volks.

I don't think an extinguisher would had made a difference in my case and in most engine fires.

I didn't realize this till my old 93 seven lit up. The FREAKING HOOD IS SO DAMN HOT from the fire that I couldn't even touch it to lift it up. and the stupid nozzle from the extinguisher that I had (borrowed from a jack in the box that was nearby) did not fit in the opening that is left after poping the hood.

Thanks for the reminder to replace my extinguisher....with my luck I'm going to get 2 this time...strategically lcoated.

Actually, this time around the engine has a more agressive port. Once the gauge kinks and turbo problems are fixed, I'm looking forward to the the dyno.

For only having 3psi or so right now, she's awfully fast.

I'll attach my sig so you can see where it's at now.
