My car got hit....

.... By a RUNAWAY TABLE!!!!

I was at work last night, and I was hoping to leave early, but was forced to stay for some "employee training session" and we've all been there at least a month... didn't make sense to me, but whatever. My boss comes in for the meeting and says "well, we're going to cancel the meeting and just set up for the wedding reception that is saturday. The rest of this "setting up" involves rolling round tables out from the dining room, out the building, through the parking lot, down a hill to another parking lot, and into the tennis center. I tell my boss "How about we just do it in the morning, when Steven is here with his truck. It will be a lot more simple to do." But my boss insists that we do it that instant, so we agree. Everyone grabs a round table and heads out the building. I get to where i'm almost at the hill, and there is a girl in front of me with a table, and she's going down the hill. She screams and says "Oh no!!!!" I look up and she's let go of her table on the hill. I laughed at her and figured it would just topple over in the middle of the parking lot, because nothing was near it or in its path for 20 yards. Well, she takes off running after it, but it's gained too much speed for her to catch it. Then it takes a sharp turn for the right - in the direction of MY CAR! I scream out "DON'T LET IT HIT MY CAR!!!!!" it then swerves directly at my 7 and slams into the drivers side, knocking out the drivers window, the mirror knocked off, and dents and scrapes all down the rear fender and door. Luckily my boss said the Company's insurance would pay for it. It hurts me to see my car like this, but at least i know that i will be dent free and have a COMPLETELY new coat of CYM on my car, all free of charge to me. Pics are below of some of the damage.

i'm not lucky it's that price. i want the prices to be as expensive as i can get. i'm thinking about putting some other broken pieces such as door handles and such on the list... even though they are passenger side... haha! the more money i get on quotes, the more money i'll have left over. and there are so many dents in my door i think i'm just going to have them replace the door skin. mo money mo money mo money.

and i was much more upset than pissed. i almost started crying. my 7 is my baby

Good luck getting on them to paint your whole car. That's not likely to happen.

I bitched a fit over sun-fading not being iodentical, and that any panels not repainted will show in 3 years, etc... And my car got completely repainted. And I drive a Hyundai at the moment.

If they dont budge at all on the paint thing, DO NOT let them blend. make them paint match and paint the entire panel. blencding looks like *** in a couple years (and usually right away to someone who loves their car)

last night my boss said "get three quotes, talk to me tomorrow. i guess it will need a new mirror, window, all the dents out and a fresh coat of paint." So from what he says, he wants me to get the whole car painted. i checked a few quotes for the repairs. $1644.19 and $1708.45 for just the side fixed. And a whopping $4634.24 for the entire car to be repainted and fixed. and the price for the window is 178.15, and mirror is 219.75

i picked up a new mirror for $60 in almost perfect shape, with all the parts needed, here on the frums. I say you get a quote fix the mirror your self, and some other things, than let the body shop do the dents, than keep the money you saved from buying parts here on the forum

"Adam c" and "montego" are right. You want the WHOLE car painted? YOU pay the ~$3K difference.

the guy doing the body work says he knows a few local so-called "paint pro's" that will tell the insurance company because of fading that it will never match. i'm not going to argue about it. i'll just let you know how it comes out in the end.

Even though you may not be able to get the entire car painted, you CAN have any panel that needs paint to be completely re-painted. Blending is an option to save the insurance company money, not get your car back to perfect. Now I am not a hundred percent sure about this next part, but I believe the rear quarterpanels are one piece across the car attached to and by the roof... correct? So if one side gets painted, you cant just blend on the top of the car, that would be noticable. (And trust me, no matter how good of a blend job they do, if it is on the top of the car, you WILL notice it, especially when the sun reflects off of it.)

Just say that your car will not ahve any blending done on it. And that's that. So at taht mark, you only have to have your hood, your hatch, your other door, and the bumpers painted to match the new paint. much less than 3k worth. In fact, it should cost slightly less than the work that the insurance company is covering.
