my brake is soft

when i step on the brakes the first time they go all the way down and barely stop but then i press them again and they are fine. What could this be and what solutions? Nothing leaking.

Bleed your brakes and clutch. There could be some air in your system.

Yep, also check the condition of your brake lines. As they get older, they can flex which is why most people upgrade to SS lines.

the vac reserve is failing and bleeding out overnight. they are fine after that first stop of the morning right? no softness?

I have the same problem on my car. what i do is i just pump the breaks befor i move so they are stiff. then they are fine. its normally only for the 1st drive in the morning. i my self havent had the time to do what they have sugested. although i do want too.

I just recently bleed my brakes too and now they are horrible... the first inital push feels like mush but then the second one feels totally fine it feels like I need to build pressure in the line and then the car can stop. IT doesn't go away either, so after i let off the brakes and continue driving again the same thing happens AGAIN when i want to brake. Could it be a clogged mastercylinder? or slave?

This post was a while ago. Did you find a solution to this problem? I was playing with the brake pedal at a set of lights (no one behind me and I noticed my brakes are doing the same thing.

I have a '79, not a 3rd gen but this is the exact description of the problem I noticed. I can pump about 3 times before it feels hard. After letting go of the pedal I have to pump 2 or 3 times to make the brakes hard again.
