anyone know of a website where I can view or dl instructions in English? I could probably do the install with just looking at the pics, but that would be far from ideal....

I doubt you will really need the instructions. It is a pretty straightforward install. When I did it, I based everything on the pictures. Hwever, you need to make SURE you get the aluminum restrictor in the right hose. I put a hose clamp around the hose where the restrictior sat so it couldn't move. It just takes a bit of experimenting. Have fun!

If you can't follow the black and white pics and still need some help, I'll take real good pics of the setup and write up the install.

hahah...I could have told you that. I just looked at the pics and got some help from a friend that already installed his. Takes about 45 min for the first time. Getting the dang brackets right is the hardest part. Best thing to do is take the rubber hoses off and only have the intake pipes to the turbos attached to your filters. It just takes some playing with...not that bad at all.

Here are pics of my completed install from different angles, if you click on the thumbs you'll get VERY large pics...it should help to see what angles the intakes go in at and the correct rotation, etc.

BTW: It is certainly easier to bracket the two intakes together PRIOR to putting them on the car.

the lower intake will simply not fit onto the mounting point in the car... is this me? I am getting a little frustrated here.... that and one of the smaller intake points on the upper bracket is loose - is this normal?

I had to use the "extra" hose (6 inches long maybe) that ran from the top of the stock airbox to bottom of the stock airbox to replace the one hose that was "loose" on the apexi intake.

The "directions" might have said that, but as you know, they are a bit hard to read for us 1 language speaking americans.

It gets tricky with the lower filter. What you need to do is just shove it down on to the mounting bracket. I'm guessing your prob is that once that happens the air hose running to the turbo won't connect or seal very well. What I had to do was loosen the clamp holding the hose to the turbos and rotated it toward the inner fender. This can be a bitch because with all the heat, the hose can get "stuck" to the inlet. Just crank on it until it seals nicely. You ought to be fine then.

also remember to keep things as low as possible! Hood clearance is an issue here as well.

one more question:
with the front "cover piece" that used to connect the intake to the intercooler, do you just leave the opening open that used to go to the airbox? and do you all understand what I am getting at with this question... maybe there are better terms for this stuff that I don't know about...

I left mine on, but I might remove it and see if it makes a difference in intake temps. My intake temps seem to be a few degree C warmer than another local guy. His is off, mine is one. We were crusing the other day and he consistantly 4 - 5 degree C cooler than mine. We both have 94 Touring. I have a new vented hood which helped my intake temps by a few degree's C, but I still think I could improve the air flow by removing the "cover piece" as you call it.

I left my cover piece on. It looks better that way IMO.

I suppose I will leave mine in place cause I am not sure it would be good to leave the opening to the IC open... any thoughts here? if I can remove it without enhancing the possibility of damaging the ic...

All of the FD's I have seen with aftermarket intakes have removed the cover by the ic, but I'm unsure of whether or not removing it has any effect on the ic. So, the concensus seems to be to take it off from what I have seen. I personally never liked that whole cover thingie anyway. (makes the engine bay look even more cramped)
