that looks good.
looks like it'll fill up the bumper openning nicely.
then again I really don't want to block my radiator.
I want intercooling without hurting my cooling.

but if someone want A2W with FMIC look this is very good I guess.

Do you have a list of parts, part #'s, links or or anything to do this? now that my FD is not my primary car I can do something like this. I want to get rid of my intercooler all together, but this may be a good compromise. Thanks.

get a rad shop to make one to go infront of rad/condenser, using 1" thk core. multi pass side flow would be best. or could use large oil cooler from summit. much less restriction of air flow vs 3" thk fmic, and oem fans will cool to avoid heat soak.

some std core sizes:

Ok this is what I spent.

GMC Typhoon or cyclone upper intercooler 180 dollars
picked up from Ebay.

2.5 inch aluminum pipe(out side is alittle bigger than 2 3/4 but it fits) 7dollar from metal shop.

a little piece of sheet (2mm thick) aluminum free. I found on the street construction site.

and I modified GMC intercooler and gave it to welding guy. this guy charged too much and did crappy job.
anyway I pad 110 dollars.

Bosh circulation pump 75 dollars.from my local parts supplier.I asked for mercedes e300 aux pump.

4pin relay I found in my tool box.any relay will do.

heater core it was for gm truck was all brass construction and bracket so was really easy to install.
I found this one on the radiator catalog.size was 10*10*2 this was almost bigest one would fit right side.
I had to tilt this heater core to fit in there also I had to
trime out a little bit of bumper reinforcement.
I paid 100 bucks for this.

3/4 heater hose,hose clamps..etc.

installation was easy removing bumper was PIA otherwise straght forward.
just makesure when mounting heater core check the room for signal light I kinda too lazy and I had to crush the heatercore to fit the light.

so let's see I spent about 500 bucks.

well you can pick up the used smic for about same price
but I just want smomething different.

for the installation it I prepaired every possible thing first and I took only one day.
because this is my half daily driver so I can't spend too much time.

ask me anything if you want to really try.I couldn't take picture during installtion (too dark gagrage) but I'll try to explain.

Very nice...

I am debating whether to use a V-Mount, or alternatively use a store bought large A2W.. (www.pwr.com.au the barrel cooler!)

I figure the advantage is , A) A2W is far more unusual..that suits me!, B) Lag is reduced due to very short inlet paths, C) if your on the track you can put a nice bit of ICE in the water supply..very good cooling!

Just have to get more knowledge on the V-mounts now..so I can compare all benefits. Obviously $$ also come into it as well and those V-mounts aint cheap!

One question now one asked, does your custom a2w core actually hold boost? Did you leak test it? I'm doing a MONSTER a2w on my new FD now. My core is 10" x 10" 4.5" and I'm gonna use a bike radiator up front for cooling the water. Pictures and how-to coming soon so come check it out

frozenboost.com is where I got the stuff for my A2W IC. They have decent kits available based on what you are looking for, different size ICs and HEs
