My 787B themed FD Race car w pics (Australia)

Hi Boys,

Has been a long time since I've posted on these forums.

Thought I would share with you some pics of my JDM FD race car which I've recently covered in vinyl in a tribute to the 1991 lemans winning 787B.

Anyway, full history on the car is here: https://www.rx7club.com/build-threads-292/fd-rebuild-down-under-pics-602080/

Pics of the car on the trailer ready to leave for a hillclimb tomorrow :

Let me know what you think!

Looking at the 787 models on my desk, the color is much more red than orange.
Is your's orange, or is is just the photo making it look that way?

Why the rx8 wheels when, it appears, you're using the stock brakes? They offer a smaller footprint than the original wheels, iirc. Simply style?

Cheers boys.

Similar yes but don't think it's actually 3M brand. It's textured 3D vinyl and really hard to tell from real CF. It's not that crappy printed "Carbon Look" junk that doesn't even look close to the real thing. It's just for a bit of fun as I thought doing a criss cross on the roof would be a bit much!

Thanks. Tyres are Toyo R888 Semi slick rear and Advan A048 semi slicks on the front. All are 245/30.

Your model is wrong mate, orange was the colour of the race car no doubt:

No idea what you mean. Yes I'm running stock brakes.
The wheels are 18x8 with +50 offset and I'm running 15mm spacers to bring them out to +35. Main reason I'm running these is I have a contact for track tyres (semi slicks) in 18".

Car went great today!

Some pics on track:

J.
Materials cost me about $400 AU.

Took about 60 hours with heat gun, squeegee and scalpel.

That's why I did it, so if I get sick of it I just peel it off!!

I think the rx8 wheels are more narrow and heavier than the stockers. Pictures and video looks great.
