My 7 just got hailed on the way home from work. What hood to get?

well the hail wasnt too big so I didnt get any damage on any parts of the car except for the hood. Well i guess i am at least lucky for that.

The hood is another story i guess it is a thinner metal so it got tons of hail dings. well when i say tons i mean about 10 and to me that is 10 too many.

Know the question is what hood to get? I dont want to just get another stock one if i am gonna buy one. So if you guys could post pics of yalls aftermarket hoods and how much they cost and where i can buy them from.

I am still new to the rx7 scene so any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks guys,
Thomas

the stock hood is aluminum it will dent much easier than other body panels. Here's a wonderful thing, Google.... +RX-7 +Hood

Is your 7 your daily driver? You should think of getting another car for the bad weather days could save ya some money in the end.

Personally i like the hood on rx7store.net, its the N1 CF hood but pretty pricey, $1200

I like the Mazdaspeed style from atihun on the forum. Here are some pics of it:

http://community.webshots.com/album/150060713EAGUnv

When shopping for an aftermarket hood think *quality fit*. A cheap, chessy fitting hood degrades the quality of the entire car.

If you drive the car in bad weather very often you might consider a stock hood, it protects the engine bay from weather more than any vented hood.

Stock is about as light as your going to get FYI.

hey turbojeff where is the best place to pick up that mazdaspeed hood. also does it let alot of water come through. I am asuming it uses the stock latch and stuff to close, am i correct

Yeah it barely sprinkled this morning and there wasn't even a chance of rain then. Then tonight the sky was black and we had up to 2 inch hail. In my front yard I picked up a couple that were near golfball sized but not too bad. Luckily my car is in a reputable shop in Fort Worth and I wasn't driving it home.

Lil Red, are you going to go through your insurance? They should pay for the hood, which from the factory should cost over a grand I assume. Pocket the cash and get your aftermarket.

yah that is the plan. but i just need to find a hood that i like.

turbojeff is the only one so far that has posted pics of his hood. i found on the rx7store a replica carbon fiber mazdaspeed hood for 599. i dont know if anyone has bought it but if they have maybe they will chime in.

I would love to see more pics of what other owners have on their cars so i guess i will see what people post.

I would like to find a nice carbon fiber hood because i am gonna leave it on there unpainted for awhile so i can save money to get the whole car painted. I dont really want a fiberglass hood because it wont look good like a carbon fiber will until it is paint time.

Thanks guys, sometimes mother nature really kicks you in the *****

A few years back it hailed really bad and nearly the whole block got new roofs from their insurance companies. Every other week each house was getting a new roof. Kinda funny.

nothing looks more sleek and streamline than the Feed hood. you can barely tell its vented unless you are paying close attention. That, or the Mazdaspeed one mentioned above. both retain the sleek lines of the car.

For the record: I don't ever drive the FD on a day where I haven't looked up the weather.

I know that most predictions are way off, but not usually if its a weather report for the present day.

Go to www.weather.com often and just be alert

PM atihun, he makes the hood I have. Fit is very good, now if I can just get the bodyguy to paint it one of these days (it's been 6 mo...).

well atihun if the guy that wants to sell me the ks hood is more than what your hood is gonna cost then i will be giving you a call.

oh by the way do you have a military discount for a troop that just got back from afghanistan. just curious no biggie if not just thought i would ask.

Hey respecttheseven does the "speed hood" you sell that is carbon fiber for 698 bucks, does it fit good and does it require hood pins. let me know that is a good price. any more info you can give would be great.
