Moved car out-a-state...runs rough

Bought the car from california where it has been since it's birth in 1992. It ran smooth when it left there, and now it is in nebraska where we are at a higher elevation. With my old supra, that could cause it not to run properly without pulling out the EFI fuse and reseting the ECU so it can re-learn it's new environment. Is this the same case with the FD? I will be removing all of the emissions equipment soon. The car really seems to idle kind of rough and vibrates the car. Already change out spark plugs, but not the wires yet. I plan on just constructing a home-made grounds kit and really make sure that everything is nice and ground.

Thanks,

Trev

Are you still running the stock sequential twins? It sounds like a vac leak.

You know what...I am still running them....plus...before the car got on the truck transport to come here, the boost gauge worked....now, it hasn't worked since it got here and the nylon line is fully intact with the boost gauge....would a vac leak somewhere else in the system cause the boost gauge to just sit at zero at all times and cause the rough idle?

Check your MAP / Boost Sensor. It's located on the firewall right behind the intake elbow . There should be a hose connected at the bottom of it that falls off occasionally.

I really doubt that minor elevation change has anything to do with anything. Neither do the turbos. To reset the ECU, just disconnect battery negative and push the brake pedal for 20s. Then reconnect.

I would look very closely at what the car experienced during its transport. I hope you were able to confirm the before/after mileage, it would be a pity if someone at the shipping company damaged it.

How old is the gas in the tank? How long did it go not being run? You may want to drain the tank, and run about 1/4 tank with some Techron injector cleaner and try again with a fresh tank of gas.

I was thinking this too. My friend bought a bike and had it shipped. It was damaged when delievered. They finally found out that someone at the shipping company had taken it for a joy ride.

Thanks for the tips....I verified the the boost/map sensor, and verified the mileage before and after the transport. There is about 1/8th of a tank of gas, but it was driven often. It is california gas, and maybe it isn't so great...I have some royal purple fuel cleaner I am going to run with a full tank of 92 after i drain the tank.

One other thing to mention...the motor has a mild street port in it...would that cause a lobey/rougher idle like cams do in a piston motor?
