Motor won't rev past 1000 rpms, getting frustrated
Its a full bridgeport motor, less than 2 miles on it. It started and reved fine but had a pinch needle bearing. Pulled the motor, replaced the bearing and got a half bridge map from Steve Kan and dropped it back in. Now when I start the car it starts up and just sits at around 700 rpm, if I give it gas it will barely rev up to 1000 rpm, but even when floored it will not rev past right around there. I need some serious help

Are you the guy that towed your FD to the tulsa BBQ? Evan? If so, this is Cyan, MB T04r.
Anyway i'm suprised your full bridge can even idle that low. I thought they had to idle about 1k 1100 RPM. Anyway good luck with your problem.

Yeah man thats me. The thing is, this problem is not bridgeport related, the motor was running fine before I pulled it and replaced the needle bearing. I am just wondering what can possibly cause the motor to be unable to rev past 1000 rpms. It seriously starts up just fine, sits and idles great at about 800 with no throttle, but if I give it throttle it will rev up to right around 1000 and just sputter so I let off throttle. Its got to be something electrical or sensor related. The TPS or map sensor perhaps. But my ecu is not throwing any codes. No suggestions as to what could cause this? Yeah before the car was idling at about 2k, but with that half bridge map from Steve it runs fine at ~800.

It's never hurts to check the TPS. I had to adjust mine when i rebuilt the motor. IIRC you had a PFC and commander. And this ECU will "not" display cel codes. Instead I beleive the red exhaust light in the center console flashes on. A good place to start would be the sensor check option in your commander. I think it's under the ETC menu. From there you can see if any of the sensors are not working or are reading out of spec.

ahh, that could definately explain the no codes being thrown, I'll check for codes from the exhaust overheat light then. Thanks a lot man I wonder how much a new TPS is from mazda. ouch

well I got it to rev past 1000, seems that once the car warms up a little bit I can rev it somewhat. I over heated the car 2 times now though. Once I got it running it was a huge PITA to keep running. If I gave it too much throttle it would back fire and pop and die, if I didn't give it enough, it would die. I eventually I got the revs up to about 2.5k. While it was running I tried messing with the timing and injector maps a bit, but nothing really seemed to help. The exhaust manifold was glowing red hot. I need some serious tuning help, I'm in way over my head. Anyone want to buy the car?

Sorry I missed your call. I'll be in KC early next week if you'd like me to come by and hit it with a stick a few times. After that maybe we can try hooking up my PFC and see what that changes.

Check the TPS . Make sure its loaded by loosening the adjustment bolts and twisting to see if it springs back.If not take it apart and reload it and set it to the proper numbers.Same thing happened to me,it worked like a miricle.Good Luck hope it all works out.
