Motor problems

Took the car to my mechanic to have the vac lines and clutch replaced, as well as check everything out to make sure we're up to par. Seems the motor is not up to par. First off he pulled the plugs and said the front rotor is burning a lot of oil. It smokes pretty good when we start it up every day, so is that normal? I wouldn't think just the front rotor should burn more than the rear though... Second, there is a coolant leak. He's going to pressurize the system overnight and see exactly where it's coming from, but his first impression is that it is leaking right by if not into the turbo (sorry, I didn't ask which one). If this is the case maybe that would explain our primary boost problems he was going to try to figure out...
Anyways, if we're burning lots of oil, and leaking coolant where it shouldn't be leaking.... I'm assuming that means it's time for a new motor or a rebuild? I don't think there is anyone in my area who is good with rotories... so we'd probably have to order something in. What should we look for? I know at least 3mm apex seals right? Anything else need to be special? Who builds a quality stock replacement? We plan to mod the car into the 12's. So I don't think we really need a port job or anything... but I'm open to suggestions. Never had to replace a rotory before so you all tell me what we need to do.

Thanks
Chuck

Why not wait until you find out "exactly" whats going on?

However, if you aren't going to port the replacement motor (if you need one), you may as well just get a reman.

Just because you are leaking coolant and burning oil doesn't mean the engine is gone. Coolant hoses frequently need to be replaced on higher mileage FD's, and there are coolant hoses for the turbos. They may just need to be replaced.

Hell, if you do a search here in the forum you'll see people talking about burning up oil all over the place. Could just be your turbos, could be the engine, could just be a gasket here or there...

Wait to hear back from your mechanic, then you'll know what you are dealing with....
