Angry Motor Popped

Well it wasn't flooded the whole time, it just broke an apex seal. dont know how it happened, just started it and moved it in the garage and it never started again. Anyone know any places to get a decent price rebuild with better apex seals and street port. been told 5200 to 5500 as long as the blocks in good shape. Any suggestions?

Put some pistons in it, they dont spit out through the tailpipe when starting it in the garage. A nice LS1 should do it.

mine sat for 2 weeks cause of a bushing problem in the rear so I didnt drive it. whats weird is I drove it for around 5 miles, decided to just tow it. started it to back up for the tow truck, got home, started to drive in garage. 4 days or so later i started again to move it in the garage and an hour or so later i tried to move it back and it never started again. had it towed to austin and got the bad news today

Mazda uses new apex seals in their remans as well as brand new rotor housings. Those seals are good for over 1000 hp. You have an issue that is causing you to break engines. (Clogged fuel filter, bad injector, bad fuel or a lean condition).

for some reason, it sounds like you guys treat your rotaries like a piston engine. My fc was sitting all winter(about 4 months) I went out there and she started right up. an engine doesnt just break sitting for 2 weeks..

whats very important is that when you first start an engine for the first time in a while, let it idle for like 20min, unless temp raises. then drive like an old lady for about 20-50 miles(that means no boosting!!), you gotta baby the rotary...
reason i say this is because sometimes seals get little stuck, so its not good to rev(past 3k!) it to much until those seals are normal again.
this is just my opion, you dont have to do it, but i think its very important. just my .02

Gotham Racing has there standard engine rebuild for around 2495.00 i believe. Street ports are a little bit more but Steve and the others there have built some nice engines for a few members now. That's where I will be getting one ....after I pay all these friggin taxes!! Give them a call or check out there site.

I let my car sits for weeks at a time. It starts right up and runs great.

There must be some other issues with your car. An engine just doesn't sit for 2 weeks and then loses an apex seal. Even the reall shitty first reman that I got (when it was installed in my car, it had been rebuit for the second time by Mazda) I would let the car sits for a month with no problem.

With the reman that I got from Ray, it's even better at starting. New housings for sure and I get 18 in of vaccum at cold start and 19 in. after warm up.

Could a failure of the OMP pump have caused this?
