Motor or PFC and boost control first

I've got some questions for the FD experts. I tried searching for this topic/comparison but couldn't come up with anything that answered my specific question and after couple hours my eyes hurt from all the reading.

I'm torn between to diff routes for mods. 1st is a rebuilt/ported motor. 2nd is PFC, boost controller/gauge, maybe catback, and go non-seq. Either way, all are gonna get done, just a matter of which is first. Original motor has 93k miles. All stock for now, (just an intake and muffler). It starts right up and pulls good so I think the motor isn't TOO bad for now. My concern is how long it'd take to get alot worse if I go with option 2 first. I think the cost diff isn't much between the choices. Like I said, just concerned about which would be best first. Leaning towards the PFC etc now, that way as I add the motor and other things I can tune as I go. I just don't wanna get those, turn up the boost a tiny bit, and blow the motor in 3 days. The general opinion I found when searching was that these are good to start off with so tuning as you go is easy, but nobody ever said anything about it being good or bad to swap the motor first. What does everyone think?

Honestly if it isn't broken don't fix it. IMO I'd go with the PFC and boost controller and gauge. From there when the motor blows rebuild it. The base maps in the PFC are decent and will get you started but tuning is key. Leave the boost where it's at now or at the most go 12 psi with tuning since you do have a lot of miles.

Exactly!

To me it sounds like you're on a budget and don't have tons of money to throw around, so why would you rebuild a motor that runs fine? It is high mileage but you could always get another 40k miles out of it.

Do a compression check. That should answer your question. If compression is low, go with the motor first.

There isn't even a point in getting a Power FC or any other form of engine management for a stock car. As for boost control, what makes you think you need it? People just love buying **** and installing it to fix stuff that ain't broken to begin with. Save your money.

If compression is good, follow the upgrade path on the Scuderia site listed in the stickies.
