motor mounts question

Hi. We're working on an FD we've recently purchased and we're going to replace the engine. The motor mounts are blown, so we need new ones, and we've thought about polyurethane replaecements.
But we've seen something we didn't know. One of the mounts is different from the other, it seems that it is hooked to the core and can not be replaced "easily". The other one only needs to take the old one out, and put the new one in, really easy, but it seems that something different has to be done it the second one.
Sorry, it's hard to explain since my English is really poor, but I hope you understand what I mean.

Which is the way to replace this mount with an aftermarket one? How do you guys do it?

Im guessing you are having trouble with the aluminum motor mount? You will need two steel motor mounts to run the poly mounts if my memory is correct. Also you will need to run an oil pan brace if you are running two steel mounts as it is slightly different from the aluminum mount and wont seal the pan properly.

All oil pans will leak if an oil pan brace is not used. Also, the aluminum mount can be used with aftermarket mounts. Cut off the rubber with a hacksaw or sawzall and gring it flat. Then drill a hole.

I meant it would leak immediately

This is NOT true.... Though 95% of them do, I've done more than enough that do not leak AT ALL.

Well, I hope not. I did mine over 2 years ago, did not use a brace, and it is not yet leaking. See the following thread:

However, if you don't re-seal the pan when you replace motor mounts, IMO, there is a very high probability that it will soon leak.

They actually all leak eventually due to the flawed design where the motor mounts bolt through then pan.

Well, that's why I did my pan the way I did (the attached link in my previous post) - there is nothing soft under the motor mounts to take a set and cause a leak. However, only time will tell if it will eventually leak or not.
