motor mount problems...that B*TCH won't go in!

I am getting pretty tired of fighting this thing. I simply can't seem to beg, borrow, or steal a method to get that left motor mount to drop its stud and alignment pin into the hole and slot.
I've got the right side in. I don't really want to take it out and try to raise the engine and stab them both in at the same time, but that is about all I HAVEN'T tried!

try lowing the subframe, I believe there are only 6 bolts so you get enough clearance with the tranny. This seemed to work for me.

get a friend to help you.

brace the motor up with the cherry picker and have him raise and lower it while you wiggle it around. helps if it's not tight against the block too. maybe back off a few turns on each bolt and re-tighten them when you get it in the hole.

There is a slot in the sub frame that a screwdriver will go in and that is where I pry the bottom of the mount over to flex it to get the stud to go it the hole .Most times i will have one side in and the nut on before doing the other side .

Yup. That works like a charm for me every time. Get a long sturdy flatblade screwdriver and go to town. It's loads of fun when oil/coolant/grease/sludge gets in your eyes while you're doing it

Thanks guys....that screwdriver trick was THE ticket!

It's times like this that the knowledge shared amongst us owners is invaluable.

I got that baby in place and have about 75% of the hoses and wiring in place.

She's gettin' there boys....she's gettin' there!

i admit i use that method, but everyone be careful when doing so... it's pretty easy to **** up the threads on the mount... some of us learned the hard way
