Motivation is gone :(
Well my car has been on jackstands for nearly 2 months now, I have the 5 spd tranny in, drive shaft in, and PPF in. All clutch lines ran, starter bolted on. Pedals hung. Well the only problems im running across is, the pedal does not seem to have engagement point, Im having a little trouble adjusting it, and the wiring is confusing me. I have heard of people converting the stock harness over but after reading the manual night after night, I still do not see how this is possible. I guess my questions are
1. Anyone have some suggestions for adjusting the clutch.
2. Anyone have any information on the wiring.
Thanks
Eric MacKenzie

thats not paint....
I give you props if you’re trying to get an auto to a 5 speed. I was looking into the idea when looking at cars and ruled out because it seemed pretty in-depth. Sorry I don’t have any advice just moral support.

I have done it. I think you need to bleed the slave. Sometimes its not easy if the master is dry, which it probably is. What you need to do is open the bleeder, have someone push the pedal down, then close it. Lift the pedal back up and do it again until you get a decent amount of fluid coming out. Once that happens you can start pumping and bleeding like you normally would. If the master is dry and you try pumping right away you just suck the air back up the line.
The wiring is a bit of a pain. I actually got all my **** to work with the automatic harness. Even the shift switches and back up lights. It is a pain but not very complicated, you just cross over between the two diagrams, manual and auto. The only thing I never got to work correctly was the cruise control but I didn't want that anymore anyway so I didn't screw with it too much. Some of the switches on the trans may not even be needed, I put them in there just to be sure.

Try George at www.sevenspeed.com . The last time I talked to him, we discussed sending my wire harness to him for him to rewire.
I ended up doing the auto/tranny swap the easy way - wrote out a check to MZM in Austin - www.mzmperformance.com - and let them do it hehe.

Eric, Eric, he's our man.
If he can't do it, I sure as hell can't.

You must do it! Do you not feel the pain of your fellow AT FD owners? Are you abondoning your RX-7? IS THERE NO JUSTICE TO BE DEALT? Then get your *** in gear, for it IS your birthright!

lol, well, i got her to crank over, but its not taking, i'm getting spark and fuel. I think i have a few bad ground, gonna be workin on it tomorrow, Im not worried about the wiring any longer. If anyone can find new stock connectors i would be really interested. I would like to make a how to specifacally on the wiring, but it would be a lot nicer with stock connectors. I used some connectors out of an old 626 and just spliced the wires....

If you have not figured the pedal feel, Flyrx7 said it right. The FDs clutch is a pull style and needs the release bearing to snap into the pressure plate ring. also, make sure the clutch piston lines up with the clutch arm.
