motar go bye bye
well 4 weeks ago i was driveing home and i got on it for a second and it started ideling weird. did a compresion test and found out the back rotar had very low compresion. i dont know if it detonated or what but it felt fine during WOT before it happened. i would like to have rx7store rebuild if for me. i just dont know how good they are. i work full time and am a full time student, so i cant go some were too expensive. i already have 3mm apex seals in the car, i have stock twins, and i would like to get a street port, i already have all the basic bolt on's now. so any one have expirenece with rx7store, or does anyone have a better place to go to.
thats a long haul from florida, i have heard a lot of good things about them, but the better the shop the more expensive its going to be. i would buy another car just to beat around in and save up some money to get it built by someone who is really good with rotaries, if you get it done cheaply it may blow in another week and you will be in the same spot as now just with alot less cash.
The RX7Store is a good shop. However, I would recommend you find a builder closer to you so you can "keep tabs" on the process. There are several very good rotary engine builders in Florida. Post in your regional section to ask for phone numbers.
Pettit is there in FL and has been doing rotary motors for a LONG time. I have heard good things about Jason and RX7store, but the price difference really is not going to be that different from most other places. Just take it to Pettit.
**edit** I agree with Mahjik totally, the closer you find a good shop the better...

if i were you i would do pettit, its only 300 to ship to columbus but thats 300 you could put into your motor or car. You may have known someone who has had a motor blow up twice but im sure there was a legitimate reason for it. Ultimately its your decision but if i were you i would try to stay as close to home as possible.

Bye engine. I would recommend that you have Pettit or rotary performance do the rebuild. rx7 store is slow with dealing with customers. Rotary Performance is in texas. Ari is a super cool guy and really great at what he does.
hey thanks for the heads up, yeah i think im leaning toward pettit. just need to do a little more research.
i dont know if they do streetporting there check their website www.pettitracing.com

I've got an engine built by Pettit with 3mm seals and a street port. The engine runs fine so far (only a couple thousand mile on it, though) and they were amazing to work with. I literally spent hours on the phone with them and they helped me decide pretty much everything that I wanted to do to my engine. I definitely suggest them.
I would be more than glad to help you out.
If you need a full install or just want an engine rebuild.
If you had 3mm seals before, i would expect at least one damaged rotor so you will need to purchase another plus another $1-125.00 for 3mm milling. Also it is likely a housing is damaged also.
My opinion, I would go back to a 2mm seal, ALS preferably, if not ALS then stick with 3mm seals.

Yeah, the rx-7 store is a little slow I agree. They do great work. If you goto their shop, you will find that they work on all cars as well. Last time I was there, there was a Mustang on the lift. They are in the same building as AP racing or something like that. So, they work on all kinds of cars...
got mine done by pettit 3 or 4 months ago.. are fast too.. i think it took 2 or 2 in a half weeks and i got my car back broke it in and its been running great so far.
