Most miles from one tank?
I get 24-25 highway (with cruise control, no traffic, 2 stops 220 miles). With A/C i'll get 23.
I have done many experiments and found that if I drive like a granny and shift at 3000 rpm and stay OFF the boost I will get 19 in every day city driving.
normal is 14 to 17, depending on how I drive.

I think i've gotten around 350 from a tank and still had some to go. I average about 19mpg in mixed driving, so if I went on one huge long trip I could probably pull 23 or so. I noticed replacing my worn to hell plugs awhile back helped a lot.
WHATS WITH THIS!!!! I only get around 180 a tank if I'm lucky. And thats barely, if ever rodding it. I wouldn't imagine in my wildest dreams getting 300+!!!! I get an average of 14-15 mpg. Check out my mods and let me know if any of them affect it. And I always use 91 octane. My car also idles at 1500. Its set that way with the HKS S-AFR. Any lower and its a dog.

I would look into why it can't hold a lower idle, the normal idle is 850rpm and it should be fine at that and even lower. Obviously idling so high will hurt mileage if you do stop and go.
Mmmm gasoline!
Of course your milage is going to have a lot to do with what state of tune your car is in and how you drive it.
-good Injectors and O'rings
-new/better Plug wires
-new Spark plugs
-working cts
-working tps
-clean air filter
-correct tire pressure
-aftermarket or working primary and secondary ignition system
-working 02 sensor
-stay out of boost(kinda hard with the stock twins though right?)
-Ditch P/S, A/C
-Weight reduction
-good engine/body grounds (for the sensors- I had serious problems with my talon staying in open loop mode because of a bad dp ground strap keeping my O2 sensor from working correctly - horrible horrible gas mileage - better than an FD though lol)
that stuff should all help out if you're getting worse than new gas milage. Did I forget anything?
Less restricted intake and exhaust should help....

Same here!
Well, I've always get around 10.5 - 11.8 mpg. The mods are dp, intake, catback....only. I drive very slow...only reach 6-7k rpm when there's a road. Mostly drive in freeway too...Maybe something's wrong with O2 sensor tho.
Can't imagine others are getting like 300 mile for a tank.

I have seen over 28 mpg on my car. I have easily gone past 400 miles on one tank several times. My average over the 4 years I have had my car is 21 mpg. This is highway, city and racing, where I'd guess the mpg is fewer than 10. As for running the tank close to empty I don't think that matters if you drive it regularly. The only issue is fuel slosh and I have never had problems with it in my car even on the track at less than 1/8th of a tank.
City driving kills me around town. Cruize nights are the worst if we're racing. I get less than 200 if I'm not pushing the tank before a refuel in city driving, and I get over 200 if I'm on the highway before I'm down to half a tank. I haven't gone from fill to freeway to refuel, so I don't know if my car's capable of 3-400 miles per tank like some of you guys are hitting. I imagine the FD is very capable at the top end cruising up in 5th gear just because of its aerodynamic properties and the fact that 5th gear runs smoothly around 3000 rpm at 80mph...a little faster than most other cars on the road. Although, I would think that being so light would have some negative effects to standing up to wind resistance if there is a head wind during the trip. I think that's how C5 Vettes get such good highway mileage- they've got that V8 mass up front holding the inertia of a car with design cues taken from our very own FD.

yeah, after a while i realized the fd got crappy mileage so i just gave up on trying to figure out how much MPG i get.
i swear, everytime i drive no matter how short the distance, i see the fuel lever go down
14-21.6 mpg
Never less than 230 miles per tank (jammin and slammin in town and hard short sprints), never more than 350 (long interstate trips). Beats the hell out of my 1967 Oldsmobile 442 that between 1967-and 1969 never got better than 10 mpg.
You guys getting bad gas mileage probably need to change your O2 sensor and start doing some routine maint on your car.
Or maybe just not get into the boost so much haha....yea right

i get about 200 miles or about 13-15mpg
BTW: How do you guys not get in to the boost when driving??? my car idles at 1200rpm and starts spooling at about 1.5k and is damn near at full boost by 2-2.5k. I usually use only about 10-18% throttle too (as noted by my super afc)

7 mpg around 120 miles on $35 worth of gas and in San Francisco that is 17 gallons. All city driving around 10-15 miles a day round trip. I am so glad i also have a 95 accord which gets 35 on the freeway and around 20-25 on all city driving. But i end up driving the fd because its just so fun to drive.

True but, the C5 has a very tall 6th gear which is mainly for highway cruising (which really applys to all American muscle cars with a 6 speed tranny). I believe at 70 mph the rpm's are below 2k rpm's. That helps mileage! However, you will not have any power but, their higher torque really helps! Just think if the Fd had a somewhat tall 6th gear. We would get alot better gas mileage.
