Idle hunting good TPS

Well,

I said I would post results after I checked my TPS. Well, I checked it, and it's set right. So, I looked at the online manual (hard copy is on the way). And the troubleshooting tree says maybe a bad water temp, or air temp sensor. Funny though, the ECU isnt giving me any codes. Could it be a vacuum leak? maybe a bad ICS? Im gonna start checking things tomorrow when I have some daylight. This hunting is driving me nuts. Also, I dont know if this is related, but if I give it anything more than say, 1/2 to 3/4 throttle, it starts to accel, but then it starts sputtering and backfiring and RAPID power loss, and will not accellerate like that. i have to let off the gas, and ease into it, not giving it too much gas. This isnt much of a problem right now as I am still breaking the motor in. but in a few weeks its gonna need to be fixed. thanks for reading any input is always welcome.

Neil

I just finished installing a new engine and am experienced a similar. Steve Kan stopped by to help diagnose the problem, it turns out that the plugs for the water thermosensor and the fuel thermosensor were plugged in backwards. Switched them around and the hunting went away. Both plugs are completely identical so it can get mixed up very easily. Good luck
