Question Most miles an on FD chassis?

My friend Alan just had his second motor let go due to coolant seal failure. His FD has ~145k miles, with 70k on the original motor and the rest on the motor that just died, an early RP 3mm seal race motor. It had just recently tested all 7s for compression.

We met over a year ago b/c he was selling it, but I was able to convince him otherwise and we've slowly been resurrecting his 7. This is but a minor roadblock; his 7 will be on the road again with the help of one Pluto

Hell i was wondering the same thing. I try to shy from anything higher than 100K due to the mielage even though it has another motor. But it's hard to say since I'm sure not many peeps have accumulated quite to 200K yet. That's quite an amount.

Yeah Batman had like 180k a year or two ago, and I think at that time he had been through 5 motors but I could be off a little.

just for the record coolent seals can pretty much let go at anytime...with a high miles cars I would be more worried about suspension...bushing and whatnot...which can actually add up to almost the cost of a motor also...

Yea what johnny said plus also something that you can't do anything about and that's frame rust. Just comes with age. Once she hits the 100K mark though, be weary of replacing many parts.

Well, alan's fd has been a Texas car for the last 5 years he's owned it, so no rust to speak of yet...

Yeah, rust hasn't been known to be a big FD problem. Manufacturers do a pretty good job at rustproofing these days.
