Kaaz...I ****-in' hate mine. My FD sounds like it's falling apart.

TwinTurboTeddy...I regret ever sending my engine parts to him to polish and chrome. He took many months and I was promised 2 weeks.

TurboTimer. Removed it 2 months ago and just sold it.

A/F gauge. Removed it and trying to sell it.

I regret not getting the DP ceramic coated and an EGT bung welded on. Now I will have to remove it and do that, or buy another pipe that is set, and sell the old one.

At times I regret buying the FD in the 1st place. Having put as much into mods as I paid for the car, (so far), and waiting for 15 months, (so far), I am starting to regret my 'Motorhead' addiction.

This is a great thread. Fresh change of pace to actually admit that one made a mistake with certain mods.

I was sold on the tranny brace, but when I went to install it, not all the holes aligned well, so I sent it back to A-spec.

I do have an ETB and rear diff brace, so the tranny brace would have been extraneous LOL

Oh I forgot.. The two mods on my old car that I hated...

I also hated when I removed my airpump, but I hate the airpump so I guess I can't win.

1. Smart Tyre monitor ($200 shekels wasted).
2. Autometer "A/F" Gauge (Knight Ryder wannabe waste of money especially since I now have a real AF system) ($75)
3. Apexi Turbo Timer. ($150.00)
4. Not so crazy about the 17 inch wheel/tyre "upgrade" ($800).
5. Aftermarket Strut tower brace, useless but cutsie in a ricer sort of way ($65) at least I didn't blow $200 on a real R1 brace.

6 puck clutch....pain in the a$$ sometimes
midpipe....to loud, make cops look at me more, so I took it off and will save it for the track

and I agree this thread is a good change from the ordinary...

i regret buying into the hype and sending my engine to the "current best builder"

i regretted buying the torque brace, it sat on a shelf, but then i took it off and used it when i busted a motor mount

i regret taking out the a/c, totally not worth it in georgia

I second that ACT 6 puck clutch.
They are POS. And almost left me stranded at race track.

I hated my HKS Hyper exhaust for the FD, I think I must have lost some hearing for that week. Yeap, only had it for a week.

I also hated my six puck ceramic clutch with Mazdaspeed presure plate. I had that on my FC T2 for about 3 months.

Open wastegate on a single turbo gets old in about a week also.

Turbo Timer: Basically does the job of you sitting there letting the car idle before you shut if off. Which is cool if you're in a hurry to get into work, etc but sometimes it's a pain in the butt. I.E. When you just started the car up for a second, and forgot you had to run back into do something before you leave. Then you shut the car off, it plays it's funny song/counts numbers and finally you just hit the off button to turn it off because it's so annoying. And IMO other stuff I'd rather spend $100.00+ on.

A/F Gauge: Most of the time was way off. Basically as said useless unless you like looking at blinking lights going back and forth or like other people looking at them. Everyone at the stop light will think you have a race car because you have one but unless it's a wideband IMO it's not much use.

Smog Pump: Causes a drop in idle when you remove it which is no big deal to be able to get it out of the engine bay but my car ran really rich with it off which I didn't like. Don't like it on because it's such a PITA to work around the turbo area with it on.

This was all with my last FD. You live and learn and which is why my new FD doesn't have TT or a/f gauge. Can't complain about my other mods like diff. brace, exhaust, short shifter, etc because I like them. However I make it a point to research parts a little now before investing in them to try and make me more happier with my purchases.

I regret upgrading to the ACT Heavy Duty Pressure Plate. The clutch pedal pressure is about twice that of stock. I now have severe tendinitis in my left soleus calf muscle from the clutch actuations during my daily commute over the 5 years I've had the ACT HD pressure plate. FWIW I counted 100 clutch actuations per day round trip. Sadly the HD pressure plate is a must for transmitting 400+ flywheel hp to the driveline...so I guess it's not so much my regret, more than my wishing I had a daily driver instead of my "monster hp" FD as a daily driver LOL

Actually I make over 400rwhp and use a Spec clutch and it feel pretty much like stock. For your next clutch you should consider getting one. Matter of fact when I called them they told me they have a new version of mine that hold 500rwtq and still has the same petal feel as the one I have (which again, feels about like the stocker). I think mine is rated for 425rwtq or about that anyway.

You did like 50 clutch kicks (basically stabbing the clutch pedal very quickly) on a new clutch. Stop blaming ACT already.

Its Star Spec preformance clutches. They are based out of Birmingham, Al (where I live) which is how I know of them. They are very popular in the V8 scene however most people dont know they sell FD clutches. The owners son-in-law works there and is a ex-FD road racer so they developed a clutch based on his car.

Anyway, I got mine from Bryan at BNR. Thats how I found out about the SPEC clutches. Also, you can upgrade them and replace the pads cheap whenever they wear out. I've got 12K miles on mine and it looks brand new
