I Pmed Fritz and it seems I"m clear in his eyes. So if I show up with my LSX car what will I be allowed to do for what price? Just trying to be clear so I know what I"m driving out there for.

I've had a lengthy conversation with Peter Tarach, the Editor of Modified and we are in agreement to keep the comparison portion of the event with the original rotary intent. When we pitched the idea to Peter, we discussed doing a rotary upgrade or modification comparison and this really got them excited as they've never done a cover story on rotaries only, especially with this level of cars. How many of us have seen or heard a 4 rotor in action? Our initial idea matches Modified's and we need to stick with that.

Given the level of interest in having V8s in the mix, for this year, let's see if we can get some of the V8 guys to do some track time and you never know, Modified might notice and want to do a sidebar article on this. From our own discussion in this thread, it's obvious there is an interest so V8 guys, sign up and make it happen. Modified did say that they would have an interest next year in doing a story about rotaries versus V8s, so maybe we can make this an annual thing and work toward that for next year. Sound okay? I hope so as this get together was never supposed to answer the rotary versus V8 question. It is intended as a nice casual meeting and hanging out with some cool car guys.

Moving on....

Allrotor93 (Jonathan) has agreed to provide the baseline stock FD. You might know that John owns Eccentric Performance and he buys and sells a bunch of FDs on this forum so he and Steve Osley, mechanic/tuner extraordinaire, will prep a car to make it as stock as possible. He's going to add in a PFC so the driver can keep and eye on things but that should be about it. John has also asked about brake pads and what do we want for the track so I was hoping Fritz, Peter, or Logan would answer that for him. We are kind of thinking the stock pads should be replaced with something else for safety.

I've also had a question regarding the use of "donations". All monies will go towards the track rental. It costs a little over $3,000 to rent the track for 1/2 day and about double that for the entire day so it's not cheap. Any donations are appreciated but please remember, you don't have to contribute unless you'd like. If you want to drive on the track, then you'll need to pay but the costs we've posted are really low and a great deal. I hope you agree.

Finally, Logan has some updates to his 4 rotor beast and these are reflected on this spreadsheet. 2,480 LBs? What? Ive got to turn up the boost!!

lol it is actually 2380lbs David, if you update it again. :-)

That is good news. You can come and drive on the track and also hang out and have fun. If we go with the 1/2 day, then the cost is $100 and if we get the track for the full day, then it's $200. We are trying to figure out the track schedule now so bear with us on exact details. We are thinking we will need around 3 hours for the rotary comparison stuff and then the track will be open to everyone for the rest of the time. If it's the 1/2 day, then that means at least 2 hours of track time total and if it's the full day, then it's 6 hours or so, allowing for a 1 hour break over lunch. Frtiz thinks we will have enough guys interested to reserve the track for the full day and we will know this by Friday.

So, we can have 6 cars out at any one time, with 20 minute sessions. What we'd try to do is to rotate the test cars with groups of other cars while the test cars are cooling down. My guess is there will be opportunities to take rides in other cars as well. In short, we will do our best to maximize track time for everyone and to ensure it's a good time

Per Logan's request, here is a revised revised spreadsheet. At your new weight, I think we are going to have to handicap Logan some way as that is going to be one quick car!

I'll have what he's having PLEASE

Sorry to be a PITA, and I know it's probably not remotely possible, but I think it would be GREAT if all of the comparo cars could run the same tires. There... sorry I said it.... just had to throw it out there. If everyone was running R6 Hoosiers (for example) you'd have a much better comparison, but again, JMO

You guys are doing a great job putting this together. Please, please, PLEASE get the cars assembled with a few days to spare so we don't have shakedown issues. Nothing more frustrating than completing an install the night before the event and then spending most of the following day trying to sort out issues.

Maybe it would amke things a bit more fair but each car is set up to run using their tire , a grippier tire lets you run a stiffer spring / shocks . if you change the tires you should change the setup to match the tires ..

Plus its about the owners as well cars are representing the builders and wheels / tires / are part of the owners

I dont know I like the randomness of it all .

Me too Tim

It would be great to get hooked up with a tire manufacturer but I don't think it's feasible in the short time we have. Maybe next year we can work on that. You are right, that will certainly skew the results.

Too funny on the getting the cars together with plenty of time. You do know this is a rotary event right? That's like trying to reverse gravitational pull

Its not really a new weight, been the same for two years I think Gordon estimated originally, which was a little off. lol

Maybe I can get a set of Hoosiers for you to run on the 3-rotor? Got Grip? Yep!

We did talk about that. However its pretty certain that I would be flying off the track with street tires!

Just messing with you Logan. Your car is going to be a beast. Makes me want to start stripping out stuff on my car except that I love the creature comforts.. Gotta have some AC and tunes

Tires will certainly make a difference on the track. My Michelin PS2s are fine for the street and my level of track driving but you guys are most certainly going to be fishtailing around the course. Bring on those Hoosiers!

I'll be wearing worn out slow continental series slicks (suckers are worse than R6s and you only get about 12 cycles) which are cheap but SUCK! Won't get them again. But I'll put on the Hankook C71s if I want to go fast.

As for the stock car I suggest blue pads and good R compound street/track tires and if I have space I'll bring down some 4 year old victo racers with some autocross time on them which should be decent.

^ Hey Aaron, for the track experience what you've listed will be fine. If we get enough guys that want to do this, then it will be a controlled environment where you will go at good speeds with a lap car in front. Gives you the ability to see the track and drive it without killing yourself

Excellent job putting this thing together, and good PR work getting modified involved. Thank you!

Wish I could make it... that is a long way across the country from me.

I don't see why not. Didn't Fritz already give you the green light? I think they are trying to gauge interest in how many people would want to pay $100 for 1/2 day or $200 for a full day track rental.

You mean 2.6 right???

Sorry, couldn't resist and not meaning to stoke a displacement argument. Just funny that this is one of the oldest "rotary" arguments at work...

No scalloping on the rotors for the 4 rotor engine?
