Modified center console

Well Im redoing my interior and ordered a bunch of pieces so I decided I would do a little work on my 93 center console. I wanted to remove the map pocket and the 2 slots for the Security and over heated exhaust. I ended up putting the rear defrost in the middle, security on the right, and exhaust overheat on the left. And I placed a pad that holds thing in place very well where the map pocket was. I am also going ti make 2 slits where they used to be to hold ID cards because I go through so many gates that require my Id card. I really just wanted something that would hold my Ipod down. On my next one im going to do one with a actual slot thats angled for the Ipod.

Here it is.

Laying some ground work

Painted with high gloss black.

Map pocket???
That location is my ash tray....

Regardless, you did a good job. I personally prefer leaving things as OEM as possible, but to each his own.

I've seen people install a "recessed" cup holder into the driveshaft tunnel cover (the thing wrapped with vinyl). That way its further back and not in the way of your arm when shifting...

Yeah, I was actually going to do a cup holder, but I didnt want it to impeed on my shifting. I was going to do alot of things. Put some gauges down there, put a few toggle switches for some random stuff. But in the end I jut wanted something where I could set my Ipod and not have it down in the ash tray.

I might just try the Havoc controls there next, ya never know!
