mobile video system ?

would a clarion in dach lcd tv make a good fit in the rx7.
I was thinking it could replace the top cd player beacuse I have a ten disc in the back. It also comes with a tv tuner. Would it interfere with any of the controls.

the panasonic

single din unit fits nice and clears everything.. a little tight when you try and retract the screen in 1st or 3rd, (but the Momo airleather took care of that) , but I needed an external MP3/DVD/VCD/SVCD/CD player since the monitor is just that, a monitor with inputs and a tuner ( last years model)

I am in the process of designing a CAMP type system, without the fish-o-meter, to display gauges there

What size is that screen? The clarion one I'm looking at is 5.8. ITs selling for $299 The guy said I'll need an antenna for the TV, how much is that? what about install, you know how much that is? my stock radio will still work fine right?

The monitor is a 7", heres a couple more pics..

The front inputs are stereo audio and video (a mono mic jack?), although I have nothing that outputs video in a 1/8" microphone jack

I wish it wasn't silver, but I had the monitor for a while, decided to use it finally. To the right, you can see the little remote eye for the (separate) TV tuner, which I also dislike. I got the best antenna I could find and the reception is crap. Call any stereo/video shop and theyll tell you that all antennas are crap, unless you get that old 70's style AWAC boomerang thing (which doesnt work inside the hatch..) and I aint putting it on my car

they don't have indash monitors like you will find in a traditional stereo shop. instead you can buy blank lcd monitors and do the installation yourself. you can save a ton of cash doing this... but, you need to find another place to mount your head unit (dvd, cd etc)

I guess I'll probably hold off on buying> I thought I would atleast get a decent reception in there. I was not planning on buying a DVD because I hardly drive this car. For 300 + installation I would of liked a tv, but not if its going to get a crappy reception.

How easy is it to get the guage readings to be read on the screen? That would be nice if you could hook them all up to that instead of having to mount them on the a-piller and other places. Much cleaner set-up as well.

I was dreaming about this same thing last night! But then when I woke up and started thinking.... It would take some serious programming I think. You would also have to get the source code from (what I will be using) the Haltech people you you can make a GUI. Hard todo since the Haltech is not Winblows OS operational. But this is definately a project I am gonna look into once I get my Haltech.

Most screens are junk. I sell them for a living, so i know wassup. Really, the only decent screen out there is the Kenwood 911 DV. I actually has a TV tuner, CD and DVD player built into a DIN sized unit. The whole thing is motorized and touch screen.
