Missing/Hesitation at 2200-2600 RPM
Help!! My '93 RX is experiencing what I would describe as being similar to a miss on acceleration. Not the usual "turbo lag", but more like a miss and then it clears up and accelerates fine. This does NOT happen during light acceleration, like city driving, but it does during moderate like getting on the highway.
The dealer did some internet research and found Mazda notices about a possible bad ground that recommends they replace the upper ground strap and clean/tighten 2 others. Notes on the web said that a bad ground could affect fuel delivery at or around 2200 RPM causing bucking/coughing/etc. Anybody experience this and correct with ground strap replacement or should I expect to keep trouble shooting?
Thanks for any input

Yes, grounding issues can cause hesitation problems. There are other things that can cause problems as well but ground is usually the first step in troubleshooting a problem like that (and the easiest). Check this thread about adding additional grounding:

If you plan on adding more grounding, make sure to have the original grounding points cleaned and checked as your originally stated.
Also, check your spark plugs and wires.

Aside from checking your plugs and wires, when was the last time you changed your Oxygen Sensor? If its gunked up, you can get minor hesistations at light -> cruising throttle.

normally the most common misfires are plug or plug wire related. I not saying you have a burned wire but one which could be ajar or have a small hole in the insulation around the spark plug boot. At light excel the coil voltage needed to jump the plug gap is minimal, however at harder excel and at a quicker Pace can cause the spark voltage to jump out the weekend area. It could be other things but it easy to check this by filling a common pump spray bottle with water or salted water and misting the plug wires and drive the car. If its worse you are likely on the right track.

Thanks for all the comments & suggestions. We replaced the recommended ground strap and cleaned the others, but the problem is unchanged. I will be moving on to the other suggestions soon in hopes of fixing this annoying problem!
