So he wants to race you? Not Mazboostrx7. I posted on it last time as well. What boost levels are you running? I still say race from a dig and hope for launching advantages. If he is only 19 and probably can't handle that power too well than that is your main advantage. Good luck, if he rolls out of the launch like he should then he will beat you. Have you been to the track with your car, what did it run? His may be able to run low 12's but I would guess more like high 12's to low 13's with an average driver, especially a yound driver. Good luck.

Its not R/T wants to run me.. if u see my last page of that old post... "16 yr old with GTS".. sorry i got lil mixed up.. hehe

plan to run about 15 psi.. with stock rims...
Im pretty sure he will pull me good bit... since mine isn't tuned yet.....last time i dynoed a/f was way off.. running way too rich..
only made 283.9 @ 10-11psi.

Why don't you get the car tuned right first. that way you won't make the FD's look bad. After you loose saying the cars running rich, or other excuses doesnt cut it. Not saying you would, but many do.

A decent stock Viper driver will pull a low 12 sec. quarter...anything more it is easy 11's...

sorry 13psi wont cut it....my friend in his FD that runs 14psi with ALOT of goodies(DP, IC, PFC and so on, is running high 12's...

Well I am basing his times on being a 19 year old kid with a heavy foot. If he dumps the clutch and romps the gas he will be sitting still for a while and roasting daddy's tires off. That is wha I meant by a bad driver. I know the car is more than capable, I am talking a BAD driver you are talking a descent driver with low 12's.

Polish up the nose on your Fd..

.. so that its nice looking in his mirrors

Seriously tho, if he lights 'em up at the launch (pretty easy to do in a Viper without a lot of experience) you should be able to get him. With the Viper getting a good launch, you'll need more boost...

You can take him. With a good motor(compression) and a good driver, your car can pull a low 12 at 13psi.

The GTS can pull a high 11 with a good driver, on average they run low-mid 12's, and with this kid it might pull a 13.

From a punch it should be close so defiantly do it from a stop. More then likely he'll roast the tires from a stop.

Fiveinchfatlip: You live in Pomona? I can't believe I haven't seen you before. I know I live in Rancho Cucamonga (about 20 mins away) but my aunt lives in Pomona and I travel there all the time.

A FD with those mods isn't going to have enough for a Viper GTS, sorry. I know what Vipers are capable of in the right hands ( see signature). The state of tune that your car is in, it won't matter whether you race from a dig or a roll so you might as well flip a coin

If the GTS has any disadvantages to a FD with a similiar or slightly less amount of HP, it's in the top end. The Viper engine runs out of steam about 5000-5200rpm meaning that's where you'll really pull on him. You're best bet when racing from a dig:

1)bring Drag Radials. It's not uncommon for the Viper stock Michelins to pull 1.8 60 footers. I know, i pulled a 1.83 on mine
2) If he trys to roll out on you any and he slips the clutch, you're done dude so pack up your toys and go home.

If you decide to race from a roll, insist on a 40-55mph starting speed because 40-55 is too slow for second gear, so driver is forced to use 1st gear in Viper, meaning the second you guys hit the gas, he has about .01 seconds before he has to shift. While he's shifting, your well on your way to 8 grand in second gear and pulling. Now he's got to make up the difference.

Good luck with your race, enjoy being killed and don't forget to post shocking results here

Darril

As far as I know, turbo charged, high reving vehicles will always be better off from a roll. Get the car tuned, and take this guy OUT. We'll look for it in the kills section.
