Midpipes, exhausts, and frame braces
Hey Guys,
To those of you who are running an MP...did you have to remove the frame brace that runs across the trans tunnel? It's the one near the end of the MP.
Pic:
I can raise the MP up a little, but then the exhaust will hit the frame brace that is right above it (right before it swoops over the axle). My exhaust is a Greddy/Trust 3" and it bolted up to the stock cat with no probs.
If I leave the MP where it is, I can't reinstall the brace that is right in front of the MP/exhaust connection.
I was comparing this stuff to my stock parts. The clearance is there for the stock parts, but the tubing is much smaller in diameter.

C'mon, guys...I know there are a lot of you out there running midpipes. Did you have to remove the rear frame brace above the MP? What about the one above the exhaust?

I've had the same problem with two midpipes. I think it's my downpipe situating the midpipe too low. If I tighten the downpipe while pushing the midpipe end up, I have eliminated the problem....at least until the weight shifts everything back down over time.

Ok, guys...thanks for all of the input. When you mix parts like this (Bonez DP, Greddy exhaust, no-name midpip), it seems the potential for tolerance shifting is huge. When you go with one brand from downpipe to tailpipe, there are no issues.
I think for fitment purposes, I'll put the stock DP and stock exhaust back in and word around that. I'll get up in the attic and get that stuff down.
