Midpipe w/restrictor plate

I've been reading up on performance and reliability mods and I understand that a setup with a CAI, downpipe, midpipe, and cat-back exhaust is too much free flowing air for the stock ecu to handle. However, if I got a new ECU such as a PFC, and then added in a restrictor plate like this guy did http://projectfd.com/2008/12/3-midpipe/ , would I be good to go?

Port the wastegate on your twins, and buy an aftermarket BC. The PFC will not handle boost spiking well and restrictor plates will only handle boost creep to an extent. I'd rather put a high flow cat in, instead of a restrictor plate. But really it all depends on what you want your setup to be.

Yeah, I'm trying to avoid porting the waste gates, considering I lack the tools and the know-how to do so, as well as being far from any type of shop that could do that for me. I know the high flow cat is the safest thing to do, but say I still wanted to go for the straight through exhaust, where could I buy a restrictor plate like the guy had on his RX7?

Dont avoid porting the wastegate, you should be doing that first, its not hard. Just do it right the first time and it'll help a ton, also, you can hog out a little material behind where the wastegate swings open. Here's a pic of mine:

Buy a can of PB BLaster for dissasembly some grinding bits and a dremel and go at it, don't beat around the bush.

Yes, restrictor plates can work. However it makes more sense to use a high flow cat instead. Nearly all of the power without as much droning noise and stench.
