OMP Mounting - What did I do wrong?

Mounted my OMP this evening and this just doesn't look right, but I don't know what I did wrong. Should there be an opening or crack on one side (please see picture)? Other picture is of another block showing the depression in the casting which makes the crack. What's up with this?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Jeff

Thanks Rich. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why this was designed this way?

I noticed this too. Since the OMP design on the earlier models was different, I thought maybe they didn't change the casting (just machining) for the newer design. ??
