Midpipe Question:???

I didn't get to much response on my other
MIDPIPE Thread.. But thru research and reading
non stop on this forum. I narrowed down my
choice on a MIDPIPE.

I gonna go with a MIDPIPE, instead of high flow cat.
- Emissions no big deal, I bribe emissions people.

I am kinda concerned about Boost creep but...
- I have a HKS Super drager exhaust..
-kinda restrictive so i hear so that should help
the boost creeps, if not. I hear you can just
make restrictor plates..

I am gonna go with a SS midpipe. to match my SS downpipe and CB which leads to my questions...:

1. Are resonated MIDPIPES must quieter than regular midpipes?? Or is t he differnce so minimal. I should just save my money?? or does it really quiet it down...

2. Which maker of MIDPIPE would you recommend??
MindTrain is pretty inexpensive.. but are they any good?
Or what would you recommend?? M2? pettite, BONEZ.
or even the RX7store MIDPIPE?? What would you recommend.. ???

Thanks

I have the ATR SS DP and MP. I bought them and installed them together and it didnt get much louder. Also Note I have a quiet Greddy SP SS Catback so thats probably a factor. My ATR was a very high quality pipe and was cheap because I bought it as a package. DP and MP for 380 bucks. I think you can spend 2x as much for a resonated MP. I think the major factor will be the Cat-back on how Loud it will actually be. Mine is a quiet type of Catback so I figured to just go with the straight through. I dont see Boost creep and I have a PFC as well. I get a small spike of 1 extra psi on transition but its minimal. If your concerned about noise dont do a midpipe.

What some have done to help with the loudness of a MP is weld a Borla XR1 muffler in the MP. Xr1 mufflers flow almost as well as a stright pipe, and should quit thigs down more then a resonated MP would. I think it will even drop your tone some, not completely sure about that though.

You can find a regular SS MP from rx7store or rotary extreme for ~$200. Then you can get an XR1 from summit for ~140. Then another 20-50 for a shop to weld it in there.

And by doing this you still get the flames

I have a resonated midpipe, and it is my understanding that they do reduce the droning while cruising, which is a good thing to avoid or reduce.

There are many kinds of Borla XR-1 mufflers, and the two that are interesting for this application are the Race and Sportsman. The Race is quieter and the Sportsman is cheaper.

By race mufflers are you referring to the "shootout" mufflers?

The shootout mufflers only come in 4.5" and 5" inlet/outlet, so those are out unless you have a have a 4.5 or 5" MP.

All the other Xr1s are sportsman mufflers. At least thats what I learned from their website.

Borla also makes some Xr2 titanium mufflers, but they are ~$480.
