Looks great...fits like crap . Its a classic case of you get what you pay for .
I too have purchased this combo but have yet to install it. Could you expand on exactly what needs to be grinded down? And how did you customize the gasket? I would install the mp/dp at the same time but I do not have the supporting mods for the mp.

I'm going to try the DP only. Sometines products are way over priced and there's no diff. But on some items the higher price does get higher quality. No one can say exactly but that's what this site is for. Some say they haven't had fitment probs while others have. As for me, I'll find out on my own and drop a pic or two to show the good or the bad - OK.

When we finally wrapped up the car that we were going to put this product on, it took maybe 30 minutes for the final attempt to test fit it on the studs, only to still find it didn't want to play nice. The M2 slips right on with no fuss or muss.

Heck, the HKS mild steel pipe that came off fit better than the Megan pipe.

Enjoy...if you are lucky and it works for you, you must have one big hammer that you used to get it in there, because we had the motor mounts loosened and jacked on the motor every which a way to try and get it in there with little success compared to either of the better fitting products.

Yeah , If you pull the studs out its no problem fitting it to the motor , it just needs some grinding on the weld around the bolt hole for the nut to seat properly.

I just got one of these, the price is nice. Here are some pics so people can get an idea of the build quality:

I assume these are the two spots where the weld gets in the way of the nuts/bolts. I'm planning on using a washer (maybe cut a notch in it) instead of removing part of the welds.

This sharp protruding edge can't be too good for flow, I'm going to round it out on the inside.

Did anyone else notice a pasty film inside theirs? I'm assuming that's a bad thing, I plan on cleaning it out. Don't want to clog up my cat...

mine doesn't have any film inside?!? But I do have that edge you are talking about too. I plan to file it down.

If you get it installed soon let us know on the fitment it will be a few weeks before I can get mine installed.

alberto_mq, have you tried this part? If not, how can you say it fits like ****?

At least three people in this thread have installed the DP, and they said the install was difficult, but that doesn't mean impossible. Not all of us need (or want) to have a mechanic install everything for us.

To some people, spending an extra hour modifying & installing a part is worth the $100-200 savings.

That paste is most likely just lubrication from the mandrel pipe-bending process. It will simply burn off for the first few minutes after the car is started, and won't affect your cat.

From my experience, the "cheaper" downpipes seem to have been slightly mis-"cloned." The O2 bungs are welded about 7 or 8 degrees too close to the turbo side of the downpipe.

It's best to leave the O2 sensor UNINSTALLED until the downpipe is on and the four studs or bolts are at least slightly tightened down. Otherwise, you'll find yourself cursing an above-average amount, as your O2 sensor will keep banging into the rear turbo compressor housing as you try to get the downpipe lined up..

Yes, those are the two spots that need to be slightly ground down. You'll find that there is no way around doing some grinding.

Trying to use washers will only make the bolts stick out at a crazy angle, making installation impossible. So grind away, but just not too much.

Try using allen head bolts at least in those two holes - they will give you alot more room to work with, because the heads are much smaller than 12 or 14mm bolt heads..

Thanks man, I think I'll look into those allen heads, hopefully I can get something that's galvanized or cadmium plated.
