i recommend stock motormounts combined w Garfinkle's engine brace. the brace takes all of the torque off the mounts and power plant frame. do a search for garfinkle.

Mike, I was trying to figure out if I was going to go with the ETB and an oil pan brace or just the oil pan brace and no ETB. seems like overkill with both, especially when my main concern is the f#*king oil pan leaking and killing the mounts I just got from you. that's all. I was told that with the oil pan brace I wouldn't have to worry about the pan leaking anymore( if done right) and the ETB ain't ****. you know that money thang is an issue. thanx
I think Wael had them on his CYM. You might want to contact him and see if he can help you out.
Also, www.GothamRacing.com has motor mounts for the FD.

it has bushings so you only notice very mild vibration off idle

Urethane motor mounts are the way to go. Minimal vibration, vastly reduced engine movement, and should last the life of the car. I love mine, would never go back to stock. Plus, they are quite a bit cheaper than the mazdaspeed ones.
I am running the oil pan brace along w/the urethane mounts and not one drop of oil at all. I deep sixed my ETB, all it was doing at this point was transferring vibration to the interior of the car. Along with the Diff Brace my driveline is rock solid, I love the feel

I have the Mazdaspeed motor mounts (not sure if they are the regular ones or competition ones) and I can't say if they are better or worse because I haven't driven a rex with normal motor mounts to notice the difference. All I can say is with my setup (RB front sway bar and upgraded mounts, I think JimLab urethane bushings, Mazdaspeed motor mounts, RB springs w/Koni shocks, roll bar) my ride is very tight.
When I went WOT, I didn't feel the transmission being loose but I did miss the second to third shift a couple times because I have the Mazdaspeed short shifter and the shifting is pretty stiff and short. Also, I haven't driven my car long enough to get used to the shifting.
Here's a pic of the mounts

I made my own, using the stock parts, It's phenomenal. I had gotten so used to the shifter sliding around left to right when I stepped on the gas, in both my '94 & '93, after the mounts, stick sayed glued to the trans tunnel...
Depending on the Poly you use you can get a softer or harder feel out of them, and initially they are quite rough, under 3000 rpm, but wear in over the 1000 mi. breakin period of my motor...
After that I did the diff brace (Solid), and it's almost too solid, I can feel a lot of vibration after 5000rpm, so I'm thinking of going back and doing Poly mounts to replace the stock ones... we'll see...

The trick over other Poly mounts is that some / most use a solid bolt through the middle, which doesn't improve suspension properties over a solid mount much. The stockers are put together like Opposing "T's" like this >< and have no touching parts, they are both cast inside the Polyurathane... this makes it more of a "Floating" situation, and helps the suspension properties significantly.....

i just got a set of the competition 1st gen mounts (need them to get the 20b lower)... but now im comtemplating making my own as you did. if you feel like describing the process/materials im interested. it would also be interesting to cast new tranny mounts in that same material. just trying to plan ahead for any drivetrain slop i may be in for w/ the 20b while trying my hardest to minimize vibrations as im sure they would drive me crazy.
anyway hope your doing well. -heath
