Question Mazda Reman Motors....

What kind of experiences have you guys had with putting a Mazda reman straight in and running it fairly hard.

Do they seem to last? Does mazda let more than a few lemons slip out? Also, do the remans have the newer designed apex seals and/or any updates that may make them stronger?

I've seen them for 1200-2000 and that seems like a good price assuming they will run for at least 60k+ miles of daily driving (and I mean driving it like it was meant to be... fast) if taken care of.

Thanks,

-Kevin

search back one or two pages, this subject was discussed a lot this week.

From what people have said, the early mazda remans are bad and actually can die right after the warrnety expires. Some have said the later ones run better and have lasted them over 25,000 miles.

but again, do a search for this

Just put mine in!

I just installed a Mazda Reman. I only have about 400 miles so far.

I can tell you this, the rotor housings were definately new. Fresh/sharp casting marks from the mold were very evident. These were definately not just steam cleaned and reused.

New oil metering pump, water pump, flywheel, and oil injectors.

I paid $2000 plus parts/gaskets. Pretty sweet deal.

My TII reman lasted 25k before the water seal went, from close inspection the side housing was bad and the water was going under the seal. My friend's fd reman laster a good two months before it lost compression, its was barely broken in. On my fd, i have a rebuilt one from japan, the dealer didnt have any in stock and had to import one from japan because it was under waranty. I know Mazda is not suppose to sell new motors from Japan, but my motor is from Japan. I know because my water housing is like the newer engines and the engine was replace in 96. I currently have 50k on it and it runs strong. I'm just lucky, i would recommend against getting a mazda reman, they will reuse any parts that they can. My frined that works at the mazda dealer say that sometimes when they dont have any rebuilds in stock they order them from Japan and that sometimes they are completely brand new. He kept that one for himself and ordered another for the customer.

I've heard that the remans aren't that hot now, and well they were good for awhile, I've seen instances of rotors, shafts and housings that should have been replaced be were not.
I would spend the extra money and get something from Pineapple or KDR or Atkins that comes with something better then a POS 12k 12 month warranty.
While you are at it, may I suggest some porting, upgraded apex seals and coolant and oil mods???
