Mazda push pins are imposible to find

I've been on the prowl for those little darts that hold the interior trim together. I don't know where you can buy them at. I'd hate to go to the junkyard in search of those little darts only to break half of them. I've been to NAPA - Advance - and a local place that carrys only body parts. The closest thing I found was a GM push pin that fit in, but I couldn't "lock it" by pressing down on the top tab.

Does anyone know the offical name of these things or where to find them (minus the dealer)?

Thanks!

The only place you are going to find correct clips for your RX-7 is from the dealer. There are only a few parts that can be purchased from local parts stores, and I wouldn't even recommend purchasing those items from a parts place.

Nice. I'll have to take a look. I wonder what household use they have?

Hmmm... there isn't a Lowes around here. I'll have to try Home Depot or Menards.

Why can't you just use generic push pins? I found some with the correct size heads & can't really tell a difference in function or appearance...

I've gotten handfuls from the junkyard. Just hit up late '90s Mazdas - they use TONS of them in most cars. Most of the ones I got were in perfect shape, too. Best part they were free from the pick and pull .

The other good junkyard freebie are the plastic covers that go over the screws that hold the panel under the windshield wipers. 626's use the exact same covers - I grabbed a handful and got my car all good.

I bought 10 of these suckers from Ray for 0.75 each. Not too bad to get them all in working order. I need to find one for the panel under my wiper now so I will try to hunt down a 626

Good Information.

I'll probably check out the junkyard and fill a 5 gallon bucket so I never need to find another one ever again!

I figured as much. Some people have this huge aversion to ordering pieces from the dealer.....I guess $1500 airpumps and $2000 Oil Metering Pumps will do that to you

Thank God we have Ray!

There's definitely no substitute for new OEM parts. Ya'll better buy 'em up before they are all discontinued. Then you will be shopping at Lowe's for auto parts.

When I bought 10 from Ray last week he told me he had 20 total. I think they sell in increments of 5 but at $0.75 it was a no brainer

You guys are killing me. Why would you want to buy over priced clips direct from Mazda?
Anyhow interior clips are easily purchased in bulk.

Just so you know, none of those are correct. They are all for different vehicles (and no, they are not all the same). They can be used, if you like having a ghetto RX-7. Also, it looks as if they only come in black. Some cars have tan interior and some have red interior.

Because one uses generic push-pins... it is a 'ghetto' RX7? Are you serious? When you get into a nice car... do you really even notice the push pins, let alone see if they are OEM? You can't possibly be that ****... then again... you are calling dealers to try to find an OEM push pin... when generic ones work just as well & are easily found...

Some of us are. And we take pride in it Like take me for example. If you came anywhere NEAR my FD w/ an Ebay intake or IC, we'd have some serious problems...

Oh and you think THAT'S ****, you ain't seen NOTHING yet. I know ppl who refuse to buy ANYTHING used. It's gotta be 100% brand spankin new. If one peice is SLIGHTLY faded, they gotta buy the entire peice BRAND NEW. And my hat's off to them for keeping their cars so incredibly pristine. You'd think the car was just driven off the showroom floor...

OK, I'm really not concerned that my car has OEM replacement push pins. However, I am concerned that the push pins fit correctly. The POS GM pins I bought at Advance fit in, but I can't "push the top part down to 'lock' it". So how do you know that these pins the correct diameter for the FD? If anyone can find out I'm going to buy about 4 boxes of them.

Okay, "eBay" performance parts are one thing... cuz the quality probably sucks...

but PUSH PINS? Seriously... if you sat in a car with OEM pins... & I then replaced the OEM pins with generics... you wouldn't notice it unless you were some pyscho who looks for that sort of thing... & NOBODY will get in your car & think "this thing is perfect... except for the generic push pins"... I figured people had better uses for their time & money than hunting down OEM push pins... but that's just me...

Absolutely. Which is why I'd just drive over to Ray @ Malloy, ask him for a bunch of 'em, and drive back
