Maximum under-hood temperatures?

I did several searches, and none of the results that I could find gave any definitive answers, so here goes:

I'm putting in a new electronic boost gauge. I have the stock hood and still have the pre-cat (soon to be replaced by a downpipe). The manufacturer says the absolute maximum temperature that the MAP sensor can live with is 125C (257F). Does anyone have any data on what maximum temperatures you've seen in the engine compartment at several locations near the hood (above the turbos, directly behind the engine near the firewall, left of the engine near stock MAP sensor, other?).

Thanks in advance for any data you might have.

I don't have any hard data, unfortunately. But, the area behind the ABS pump is a good spot for a boost gauge sender. It's well behind the pump's heat shield and decently away from the hot parts of the motor. There's also unused 10mm threaded holes there for bolting it to the chassis.

I have one of those laser thermometer thingies... right on the turbine housing on my single turbo, it can easily be over 500 degrees F ... besides that area, the area around the alternator is pretty hot... I thnk around 250. The area back near the firewall where the stock MAP is is a lot cooler as I recall. I'd put it somewhere over there.

Thanks for the replies. Last night I made a bracket that attaches to the same mounting hole as the stock MAP sensor.

Thanks, again.

Wrap or coat your DP before it goes in. That should help with underhood temps.

Thanks for the good advice.
I plan to get a used HKS DP (it looks enough like the pre-cat to maybe fool the emission police) and I am planning to get it coated (inside & out) with Jet-Hot 2000, since it's not SS.
