Max boost on series 8?
Max boost on series 8?
Ive read different answers on different websites but im not sure if series 8 turbos can handle more than series 6 and 7s? Ive even herd of a series 7 running 16psi on the standard turbos?
What is the maximum boost the turbos can hold on a series 8 version 6 car. At the moment im running 11.8psi, and i made 204kw at the wheels. I wana add a good intercooler and bit more boost and try and make around 240kw if i can.
1. So what is the max/safe boost pressure i can run?
2. My mecahnic has told me i can make both turbos kick in at the same time, If so would that give me any more power?

1. 10 psi... on stock ECU.. if you remap it, or aftermarket ECU with suporting mods, than 12psi depending... My mechanic said I could run 14psi on an Aftermarket ECU with no bolts on or anything... but no.
2. Its called non-sequential - it will give you a couple more HP but you will have no power up to 4k... seq is much better in my opinion.
I'm from Victoria, Aus! lol.. don't see many people from Aus on here!

yee im from sydney.
Well ive got a powerfc so was looking for more boost. This guy i might be buying his intercooler off, has a series 7, and made 260rwkw on the stock turbos at 16psi. Thats why i wana know how his turbos have lasted.

Well with a PFC I would probably say 12psi, but my mechanic, 'promaz' rotary specialist said I can run 14psi on the mircotech ECU and nothing else... but 16psi on the stock turbo's is alot!! 15psi is their peak... so to see it lasted running 260rwkw is great!!! Suprised they lasted... but mines set at 12psi spiking to 14psi and has been for the past year or more (didn't have a boost gauge) and i'm yet to have any problems what so ever...

hhm, I think you can actually go a little more on the newer 99 spec turbo. I dont think they fall out of efficiency till around 18-19 psi. (remember someone reputable telling me this). Your problem is fuel. You injectors are pretty much maxed out at around 1 bar. So upgrading is a must if you plan on uping the boost past 1bar(14.5-.75 psi). I wouldnt pass 10psi without a proper boost controller because of spiking. When I had my twins on , every little thing I did to improve the engines performance, would cause spiking. Not a good thing if you read through the forum. Good luck with upping the boost!!!
Whatever max boost you plan on running, just remember these are usually one off and last very short periods of time. On a dyno run or at the lights or down at Eastern Creek yes because the last thing you want to be doing is running max boost for an entire trip somewhere.
Run max boost all day everyday and you'll be back at your mechanic in no time asking for the turbos to be rebuilt as a minimum.
As for non sequential, for a rare car like that leave it as is. I don't think I've ever come across a spirit R or higher spec models running non seq but hey there's always a first but again for resale later I know I'd want an original one.
If you decide on non sequential make sure you do it the proper way and not the poor man's version.

Yee when i get a boost controller, ill have it on 2 settings, 10psi for everyday use and for the strip, and dyno ill have it on a bit higher.
YOUWSH ur right i dnt want to go with the cheap way out on my car, and i dont want to modify everything. I just wana go with boltons, but want to get the max power out of them.

you'll be fine. just upgrade your fuel. you got a intercooler lined up, & you have a power fc. just need a boost controller, & a alloy rad would be good. more boost more heat.
and yea 12psi for everyday, and turn it up when you wanta go race.
