massive smoke from exhaust, no boost
First of all a little background on my car. 94k on the body and turbos, engine and transmission have about 25k on them. I changed my oil two weeks before the incident
I was about a block away from home after an easy cruise when I noticed a MASSIVE smoke cloud behind my car, coming from my exhaust. About the same time, I noticed that my turbos were not boosting at all. I got it into my garage and shut it off, and noticed an oil puddle forming under my car (under the oil pan/dp area). My engine oil is gone to about a 1/4 left. Does this sound like blown turbos/blown turbo oil seal? The engine sounded/idled fine.
Thanks in advance

I'll take "Blown turbo seal(s)" for $500, Alex?
You're in luck though, I'll have some rebuilt stock BNRs with less than 2000 miles on them available in a month when my car gets back from going single

I agree with Kento. Given that you have a massive oil leak, smoke out the exhaust AND no boost it sounds like you lost a shaft seal in the turbos which let oil into the exhaust and then oil starved the turbos which caused them to seize.

A leaking oil pan won't cause a loss of boost. It sounds like a turbo rebuild/replacement may be in your future, unfortunately.

why would you just order turbos without at least verifying that the leak is just indeed the oilpan and that your turbos still spin freel :/
probably just a boost leak
probably just a boost leak

I agree, the turbos are shot. Happened to me a week after buying my FD. Driving down the road then poof, no boost and couldnt see anything behind me. Primary turbo oil seal gone and oil was everywhere in the intake.
I replaced them with a set of 110k mile turbos ($250) thinking it would just be a temporary thing until I had time to rebuild mine or get something newer. Well they lasted another 50k and I finally just replaced them with a set of 5k mile ($500) stock turbos. The old ones are still good, I just figured it was about time. Any way, I see no problem with going used. Sure you may occasionally get a bad deal, but to me it is well worth the risk.
