Manuel Transmission fluid

Alright, so I can never just get an answer thats the same from everyone. I go to buy my Tranmission Fluid, I have read I use 75W90... so I go to PartSource (local shop for parts). They say I am wrong and look it up in the computer, on record they say I should be using "Dextron II ATF" which yeah I don't think is right. Can someone please chime in. Currently I bought Castrol Synthetic 75W90, is this what I want?

I use Redline HeavyDuty Shock Proof, also a few guys lock that drift and with 350+ HP use it and it hold up good. a high performance shop should carry it.

I need to do a transmission flush...

What is the capacity, anybody know off the top of their head??

I'll be ordering my fluid from summit and want to get enough the first time since I can't just pop out and get more in England (the UK SUCKS for getting car parts/fluids)

I use Redline, but will change to Neo when I next change the fluid. Neo is "the one"

The tranny holds 2.6 quarts (2.46 liters). I recommend Neo Synthetics 75W90HD.

yeah don't listen to the guys at Partsource, just get what the other members suggest since they've been using it for longer, I personally use Royal Purple but Redline and Neo are also good choices you can't go wrong.

Yeah, I had Neo put in it when my 5th gear Syncro was rebuilt about 2 years ago. The car sat for most of last year when it was waiting to get shipped, and I was than in Afghanistan.

I would use that again, but haven't found an online source for it yet. Buying any performance parts locally is WAY too expensive.

Thanks for the info guys!

That should be an indication that you're wasting time to try and find one agreed-upon answer.

ATF is obviously wrong. Read the FSM, it says GL-5 gear oil 75w-90 viscosity.

My preference is Redline MT-90. Neo 75w-90HD, Royal Purple, and Amsoil MTG are also very good. Do not use any oil labeled "for differentials only" or "not for use in synchromesh transmissions".

the redline shockproof gear lube is for diffs. your prob thinking of redline mt-90. its a 75w90 lube(for transmission use). but you are correct that it holds up good. i changed out mine about 6 months ago and shifting is very smooth. i highly recommend it to anyone

+1. I've been using NEO for years with no problems ever.
