manual to auto?
I snapped the main shaft in my 5 speed and was thinking about going AUTO......what should I do?I don't want to fix it and break it again.Don't auto's take more abuse than a 5-speed?

if you are serious then I would go domestic, like as powerglide or some such. and no, the stock auto does not withstand more abuse. on the plus side, you will never worry about snapping anything as there will be no 5000 rpm launches.
