Took of the manifold to switch the injectors and put things back together but the car won't turn over. Two possible problems. No. 1 I forgot to disconnect the neg battery cable and something shorted. No. 2 theres a white electrical plug on the back of the manifold about 3 or 4 inches left of the elbow when facing the car that may have a broken plug. So is it critical to have this wire properly plugged in to start the engine? What does this wire plug into and whats the purpose for the thing it plugs into? Briefly looked in the manual but could not find out what its called or its fuction. Just guessing since its close to the the throttle body it may be an air fuel sensor o2 sensor or something.

What are some of the other possibilites to check for that would cause the car not to turn over in ref to removing the manifold.

Any helful advice would be appreciated

throttle sensor. it is orange and i have left it off once. that is all that it takes. it is right by the throttle body and is a 4 pin connector, if i am not mistaken


the white sensor tha tyou are talking about is the intake air thermosensor, and the car would start w/out that.

Won't crank/turnover any ideas other than the whats been covered?

If it wont crank then shouldnt it be something electrical, Most of those sensor on your manifold you dont need, but the throttle sensor you do. Sometimes it falls back by the tranny and might be easy to over look.

If you shorted something like the positive on the alt. it may have blown the main 60 amp fuse.

Checked fuses and made sure the throttle sensor was plugged in and the car still won't crank. Did not have time to take the manifold back off but I guess thats the next step. The clutch switch was giving me some trouble so its possible that it picked this moment to completely fail but I find that unlikely. Oh well I'm sure I will figure it out thanks again for the help

If you have bad luck like i've had maybe the starter just went out. I did a timing belt and water pump at work and the freaking starter went out. Starter was good before i did the job but afterwards it wouldnt crank. **** happens. Feed power to the signal wire of the starter and see if it cranks.

Ohoh, this sounds familar. I did my battery relocation, everything went well, but the car wouldn't crank. After a decent amount of troubleshooting, I found that I could directly power the starter solenoid, but the start signal was getting lost somewhere, checked clutch switch, ok, something after that. Looked in factory service manual, found a relay in the starter circuit. Ohoh, the factory alarm is randomly picking up (energizing) the starter kill relay. I have to try to figure this one out, it is a pain in the ***. I hope your problem is not the same thing. Also, set the factory alarm, and then do the usual unlock the door and try to start.
