Made Yahoo collectible cars!

Any one read this? Just a quick summary but at least the FD made the list!

https://autos.yahoo.com/photos/the-1...587173613.html

what do you think? is it worth leaving a car stock (ie with low mileage or hard to find combos) or just say eff it and build it no matter the year or color or package?

when you drive it or modify it, you are pouring money down the drain. When it's sitting in storage unmolested, it's appreciating in value.

but where's the fun in that?

I guess I probably wouldn't hack up a spirit R, but I say drive and mod, no matter what colour/model.

Nice to see it on the list. I agree the stocker the better for increased values.

I'm not a storage facility keeping this car pristine for the next guy. In other words, I bought this car for myself to drive & modify for my enjoyment only.

P.S. You are far better off looking at hedge funds and the like for investment purposes.

I have one of the first FD3S and putting it back to stock as close as possible seems like trouble , if when I bought the car it was bone stock with super low mileage , I would probably think twice before mods; like single turbo, v-mount ,
even tho some mods are good eg; WI , Wideband etc etc
I guess the true question is ;
are you a collector or driver ?

Ya I don't know, i'm having a battle with myself lol. I was never really the type to not mod a car because of details. But having one of the few last 95 silver/ black PEP with the different color engine bay makes me not want to mod it. So I have been thinking about selling it and getting a different one to mod.

I just feel like people would low ball the car more if it was "built" and far from stock.

In the end really I think it depends on just being realistic about how many people would actually fork out the cash for our cars when it comes down to buying. Whether you have a low mileage CYM or a SSM R2 1995, you can ask what price you want, but most people wont spend the money on it no matter how much they want to. I don't think people could justify it yet.

I'm so glad my FD has 120k miles on it lol makes decisions much easier. Leaving it stock is a liability issue. I literally have to replace things/mod it as stuff is falling apart and not working anymore.

I have to admit that if it had under 50k miles I would feel bad about modding it etc...I'd still do it tho.

Just save all your old parts and if you decide to sell you now have parts with low miles on them for even more value.... And if any of your upgrades are rare parts those might appreciate as well. You're welcome :P

My plan is to modify mine to such an extent that it folds over onto itself and ends up stock.
