Made my own SS dead pedal/foot rest

let me know what you guys think, this was the first try...any suggestions regarding the looks? More holes, less holes? I don't like the current hole pattern...need to change that up a bit. However the fit is perfect

Yeah I know the OEM plastic one works just fine, but I was bored and I have a friend ho makes stuff from SS...so

yeah, +1 for the dimpled.

Anodized silver for protection would make it look better. This could easily be a possible ground buy product.

I want one!

I agree on having dimpled holes, but I'm not sure how I could make them. My friend has a laser cutting machine so making these as is now is not to complicated for him, but I can ask him about how we could add some dimples.

It's normally done with a dimple die press, you have 2 dies that press the dimple into the part. It would be time consuming on that part to do, but would add rigidity and make it look mo better .

Very nice project!

the hard part for the carpet is the foam...if anyone solves that one...

Plus one for dimples!

Thanks Dale, I'll see what can be done. Its very rigid as is, I think my friend told me he used 1.5mm thick steel, but I agree it would look better with dimples

Thanks!

I was also thinking of maybe laser cutting an rx-7 logo or something into the pedal...

I envy people who can fab things like this. I can barely fabricate a ham & cheese sandwich.

One thought...seems like dirt and whatever might be stuck to your shoe will tend to accumulate behind the pedal overtime. Will you be able to vacuum behind it w/o unbolting it?

Haha well I only took the measurements of the OEM pedal, its my friend who did the rest

I agree, dirt and mud will get behind the pedal...but you only need to unscrew two bolts to get it off so its not that big of a deal I guess...

if you cant do dimples, you could do it out of a thicker aluminum and counter sink the holes for the appearance of dimples.

Hmm that's a good idea, however I think my friend mentioned something about his laser cutting machine having issues with thicker aluminum because aluminum reflects the beam more than other metals...but it depends on the thickness

I make laser/brake parts all day long and I'm confused as to how that side bend was done, unless there's a welded seam I am not seeing??

Couldn't you make dimples by hammering a ball bearing?

its made from two parts, the lower right part is welded on, and the seam was sanded down

this might give you an idea

What about just a dimple die?

Robot Check Robot Check

Full sets are $$$ but I would imagine you could find something similar pretty cheap...

thanks for the idea, I guess this could work good on a aluminum pedal.

Yes +2 on the dimples and the rx7 logo maybe in the middle would look nice. Also I would like it as long as the dead pedal is the same size as the oem.
