Madbul drift rx-7 re-engineered

hey guys

found this on Speed Hunters today

its coverage of MADBUL'S rotary drift beast getting re-engineered for the upcoming drifting season

its awesome to see a professional drifter still sticking the real JDM heritage of drifting...not all these stupid american cars and all these guys dropping ls series engines into 240's and 350z

enjoy guys!!!

I totally agree with this, but at the same time I think alot of the pro drifters that switch to American cars are doing it because they are being sponsored by the manufacturer. Money talks and if someone is throwing cash their way to drive a Mustang, I don't think they'll turn it down.

The other part is possibly due to the power/torque advantage an NA V8 offers for breaking the car loose in drifting as opposed to small engine/turbo combo.

But it does feel weird to watch American drift competitions and see nothing but Mustangs, Solstices, etc etc when you are used to see 86's, Silvias, FDs, FCs, etc.

Sick build too. Those Aussies and Kiwis are always doing crazy stuff with their rotaries.

i totally agree with this...but im a nostalgic old school guy

the american cars do bother me yes, but what really bothers me is the LS engines going into the JDM cars...it defeats the purpose of drifting entirely

the whole thing about drifting is style!!! thats where majority JDM style came from...

its supposed to be all about flame throwing boosted rotaries...and blow-off valves going crazy on a 4 banger pushing like 26 psi out of a little turbo in an AE86 or a 240 lolol

the whole thing about drifting was that it was taking cars past their capabilities and making it look damn good cus all the cars were slammed to the ground on super stretched tires and massive fender flares and ridiculous flake paint jobs

its become too commercialized...

Yeah, bit of an old school head here too, but at least the Japan scene is still basically the same.

I use to watch Option and Drift Tengoku VHS tapes back before there was a US scene to speak of, so I'm more familiar with that scene anyways. I don't even recognize the names that are being thrown around from the American scene, but I haven't watched any Japan D1 vids either in a long long time. The last time I watched, Imamura was still drifting the white Apex'i FD, so yeah...

I just look at them as two completely separate scenes, so I don't really mind what happens in the American competitions, as long as they don't replace the Japanese ones. I might be an ignorant *** for saying this, but I don't really care much for time attacks unless they are ones at Tsukuba.
