M2 intake hardware?
Do any of you guys with the M2 intakes know what size or type of hardware is needed to mount the cover? Like thread, pitch, length and are they metric or standard. The reason is I just purchased a used M2 intake here on the forum and didnt get not even a washer or a screw. So who ever knows please help thanks.

sorry i don't know off the top of my head, but you can definitely get them at any local hardware store.
when i bought mine it was missing some hardware also, so i just went to the harware store and asked them for help. the guy found the right size in like 2 minutes and it was like $5 for all the hex-head bolts...they're small and cheap.

buying used parts normally means some small items like bolts will be missing, buying something for a fraction of its original cost is a win even if you need to dig around for $5 worth of bolts.
Unless of course you're promised every single bolt and washer is included, then that would be a different story.

I like when people selling something specify what comes with the purchase. At the end if you mentioned what comes with the purchase there will be no surprises for the buyer.
Thanks guys for the help I been a little busy polishing this bad boy up. It was in pretty bad shape, which I was able to tell from the pics provided but yea no one mentioned missing hardware.

I know this is from the past but I hate doing a search and reading all the way through the tread w/o an answer to the original question lol.
To the op, the correct size is 5mm-0.8x12 Button head. Standard 10-32x1/2 will work but who wants standard bolts on a Japanese car. I purchased chrome screws from Allen’s Fasteners. They charged me $11.08 for six chrome button head allen bolts shipping included. The normal price is $13.83 but they informed me that shipping is cheaper if they can fit them in a smaller bag.

Otherwise going to have to replace the inserts, which is not much fun.

I found a random blog mentioning similar symptoms about threading and then binding: Erik Nilsson: Oh SAE, can you see?

I'll report back to clean this up when I get to the bottom of it all.

Narfle,
I recently went on the same hunt searching for replacement hardware for my M2 CF intake. Lowes sells packs of Hillman stainless button head cap screws in various sizes. I tried a few standard and metric threads but what worked in my intake was 10-24 x 1/2". I bought the 1/2" length because that's all they had at the time but you really don't need them that long. Good luck.

I put a wrap on my m2 mystery today for both the boxes I'm restoring.
I had previously ordered some 10/32 buttons heads, being pretty confident that was the fit.
Popped into a local ACE by chance, and was asking dumb questions about rivnut guns when the guy pointed me towards some manual threaded insert tools on aisle 5.
Grabbed one in 10/32, a long 10/32 machine screw, and some aluminum 10/32 flanged rivnuts on a hunch.
Confirmed the fit when I got home using the existing screws I had.
Replaced the spun inserts, and just waiting on shiny new screws to show up in the mail.
I wish I had popped in there earlier, but I've had pretty bad luck with most hardware stores in the past.
Now back to the original plan of using nice slotted screws for the top cover... Not a fan of breaking out the allen keys every time I wanna check the filters.
TLDR: 10/32 worked for me on two M2 CF boxes.

I buy all my supplies for my business from McMaster-Carr. They have all grades of fasteners, and types. If you find the thread pitch and correct length, I'd order from them. Quality fasteners.

McMaster-Carr has about the best organized web site I've seen! And you get a box of 25 or 50 for about the same price as a few at the hardware store, usually in 1 or 2 days by ground shipment.
On the other hand, I've been impressed at the selection of metric stuff at my local ACE or True Value stores!
Nice job on finding a good solution for your boxes! The carbon fiber is sure pretty.
