M2 Carbon Fiber Air Box? Good?

Would this be a good choice for a FD? http://www.i-m-racing.com/m2carfibcola.html
I like how it looks but I was wondering if it is a good airbox setup.

The rx7fashion box is similar but fits better and is cheaper. It's made from aluminum, not c/f. I haven't seen the M2 c/f box in person but I can tell you the construction quality of the rx7fashion box is very, very good.

if you get it keep an eye out for the air filters once in a while. I used to have the M2 intake and the filters would fall off every so often, and I wouldn't know because the damn lid covered it... This happened to a lot of people that i know actually so just look out for it

I have the M2 CF intake and keep hearing about the filters falling off. I've had mine on the FD for over a year now and they haven't slipped off yet. I check them all the time to the point of paranoia.

The M2 CF is constructed very well but is a very tight fit with a LSMIC (I have Pettits). Haven't had my filters fall off in about 2 years but then again, I'm pretty religious about cleaning them.

Downside is the price...ouch.

Yeap, owned mine for around a year. The filters have never fallen off, or anything out of the ordinary. Only downside is the $$. CJ

Had mine for over two years, no problems with filters, but be sure that the necks are clean of any grease or dirt. I also bought a second set of filters so I could just swap them out rather than wait for the set to dry.

The price for mine was EXCELLENT - won it at the raffle held at Sevenstock 4!!!!

Beware, you have to order the pipes for it separately. You do not get everything for that price.

I've never had the filters fall off either. My only problem is the top of the box rubs the lining on the hood but I think that's fixed now. This intake is as light as a screwdriver!

I did a stock airbox mod to my car. I think it works better than the M2 or RX7 fashion. If you are trying to save some money, and want something that you know fits right, this is the way to go.

I wouldn't order from Intense Motorsports. I ordered a shift **** from them over a month ago and it didn't come. After a week, I gave them a call and they said it would be shipped the next morning. A week after that, I called again and they said that it was out of stock and going to be drop shipped from SP engineering (GReddy USA distributor). Now somebody correct me if I am wrong in assuming that you'd have to be a dumbass to take two weeks to figure out that an item is out of stock and must be shipped from somewhere else. Whoever I talked to on the phone told me that he had to pay somebody to drive up CA to pick up all the orders with a van. What does picking up orders have to do with something that is going to be drop shipped in the first place? I actually got a call from some woman working for an online transaction agency and when I called her back, she thought I worked for Intense and spilled the beans. Apparently there are many many orders that have been charged, but not been delivered to the customers. I can't quite remember exactly how she translated it to me, but the customers' banks had contacted the transaction agency and told them that they were no longer going to make funds available to Intense until the customer had received their order. I have been charged $50 for a $35 shift **** and I haven't seen any results from that ridiculous cost of shipping yet. The shift **** hasn't come yet and the guy at Intense has failed to return any of my calls, even when I got to speak directly to him. If I were you, I'd just order it from a more reliable supplier. The extra money is worth its weight in insurance. I know this sounds like just one bad thing with a shift **** and all, but there were other orders of over $1000 that were on the list when I talked to the woman at the transaction agency. I know nobody wants to get screwed over by another Rotormotorsports kind of company.

Someone did a comparison between the M2 with the top lid off and with the lid on - and the dyno was just about the same. I THOUGHT it was SCC, or related.

There was an intake that had a different story with and without the casing - PFS I think.

So I'm surprised to see on two threads now that the M2 is restrictive.

Bear in mind any future mods though. If this is as far as you are going, it's a great mod. If you plan to add a FMIC someday, don't get it cause you will just end up selling it and buying a different one. It all boils down to how you plan to mod the car.
